I love my m3 bodies and doubt the M8 will be functioning in the same manner as my m3 forty seven years from now... but... can someone tell me if this is the Nikon D200 sensor (or something like it).

It is that reason (not a big fan) why I've returned to film for available light work, and kept Nikon for flash work.

It is NOT the Nikon D200 sensor, which is made by Sony.

It IS a KODAK sensor with a 1:3 crop, which is larger than the Nikon D200 sensor, but smaller than Full Frame. It is the same sensor used in the Leica DMR digital back for Leica R8 and R9 reflex cameras.

Leica is the only brand of digital camera to use this sensor, made by Eastman Kodak. Perhaps it was custom made for them?

It is not completely the same sensor. The microlenses have been adapted to accomodate RF type lenses and the electronics are not by Imacon like the DMR but by Jenoptik. It will be similar but might be even better.
