Don't really want to wait till November - is there any way to get an M8 (the camera, not a place on the waiting list) right now? Just wondering...

Who says it is available easy in november ...?? Lists are growing everyday!
And there will be a real growth when first real sample images are available.
Of course there are people on more than 1 list i assume ....and there are people who are dissapointed when it arrives because it has limitations compared to their Canon DSLR's. .... you can always deal with those people who will sell soon after launch.
Come on we are waiting for years for the M8 to happen .. so be patient for a couple of weeks/months.

Good one...best joke that I've heard all day :D

Yo, my cousin has a few that you know, fell off the back of a truck.... if you get what I'm saying....

Yeah- well I am glad I am no 2 on the list here in Holland. Given the limited production resources of Leica and the interest the camera has generated I would not be surprised if delivery the backlog would hit the six months mark at some point early next year.

Well, that's good--as I'll need that much time to raise the cash to get one.

I hope for you you'll get it soon Jaap ...... but i am amazed about the amount of people who report they are nr 2 on a waitinglist. Everybody seems nr 2 somehow ;)

I hear you, Han. But I ordered over a year ago... :) (and had a mail correspondence with Transcontinenta - and have written confirmation of my order ;))

OK Jaap .... if yours arrives sooner than mine, and you might not like it .. just drop me an e-mail;)

Maybe- but I want a chrome one. And there was a rumour some time ago that the first batch will be black...

#1 on the list, if I can believe my "local" authorized Leica dealer.

And I ain't telling anyone the city in which said dealer holds court ... err, does business.

Actually, I was #2 on the Calumet wait list and after Photokina became #5 somehow. Maybe thats a good sign?

Glad I made you laugh Steve. If you think about it, your response shows what a fantastic job Leica marketing folks have done ;)

Is the calumet list nationwide, or at a local store? My calumet doesn't carry any rangefinder gear (Leica, voigtlander, zeiss, etc).

I'm 2.5 at one store (the real #2 is travelling and needs the camera in before they leave on a trip at the end of this month). I'm number 3 at another store. The problem is, I'm still undecided. The Metz mecablitz flash system w/wireless TTL is really leaning me towards it though. Multiple flash setup w/Leica glass is my ideal setup. That and the fact that the camera will be supported for years to come, with a 3 year warranty, is a nice thing too.

I've left the M8 screen up on the computer so many times, and dropped a bunch of "wanna surprise me for christmas?" hints to my wife, I'm hoping that she answers the call from the camera store and decides to pick it up for me.

Either way, I have a surprise coming this christmas. Either I have a camera or a I don't. I just hope my wife doesn't decide to re-wrap an old leica box and stick a brick in it :) That would be too cruel.
