Well, before I decided to upgrade, I called Leica and talked to Sarah. She was extremely polite and helpful. She called me back within an hour after I faxed her my original B&H receipt, which was dated in April (the upgrade promotion is for new cameras purchased after May 1) and she told me they can extend the promotion to my purchase too. I had a very very positive experience talking to Leica.
As for Kalina's purchase, she bought a used M8 on eBay, which is not a new camera.
BTW, my M8 is being shipped today with UPS overnight back to me. :)

Just to give my opinion to those who are thinking of whether to upgrade or not.
After all I got my M8 back after three weeks.
1. The shutter is awesome!!!! The sound now really reminds to that of a film Leica.
2. The frame-lines are correct, just what you are used to on film.
3. The LCD, well I can't tell the difference.
