M8 use with 35mm Hexanon, any advice please

I've just entered the world of M8 use and the lens I'm currently using with it is a Hexanon 35mm with a Leica UV/IR filter. Obviously it's not a coded lens and I think it's difficult to code due to the positioning of one of the screws ( I've tried a couple of times with a "sharpie" and it's not recognising it as a "35"). How should I set the menu when using this lens regarding IR and lens recognition, etc. If anyone else is using this lens and has any other advice it would be greatly appreciated too.

Hand coding errors usually fall into 4 types:

• Black marker colour is not read correctly by the camera body. In your case you mentioned you are using a "Sharpie" and I haven't heard of anyone having trouble with using a "Sharpie"
• Black marks on the lens flange are mis-aligned with the LED DIODES on the M8 body mount. Any extremely easy way to ensure proper alignment is to
  • mark on the outside of the body's mount, at the centre location of the 6 LED DIODES.
  • Mount your lens and put black marks on the flange exactly opposite the marks on the camera's body mount.
  • Remove the lens and now put the "black coding" marks on the lens flange exactly adjacent to the marks you just finished painting on the side of the lens flange
• Fill in the screw area with white nail polish (or black as appropriate) as the DIODE has difficulty reading this location due to the screw
• bayonette mount is not consistent with Leica coding (see threads on the Zeiss 18 mm, 21mm or 25 mm lenses where either new mounts need to be purchased from Zeiss to bring up the proper framelines (and IR coding adjustments) or where possible to file off parts of the flange yourself

Your problem should fit into one of the above problem areas (assuming you turned on the lens coding correctly on the M8 menu) :bang:.
