M8 + Voigtlander 12/5.6 + Nikon SB800 flash

Hi Lozit, I can never work out how to link to the bigger file size in Flickr...

If you are interested, the bigger file should be at

Thanks!

Hey, how did you do that?! Thanks, back alley.

Mountainsmith, I use a generic single contact hotshoe adapter with cable connector on the M8 while the SB800 is mounted off camera on a simple arm (not sure if that's the right name, basically just a strong piece of metal with a fake hotshoe on one end and a tripod hole on the other) connected to the adapter via cable. There hasn't been any problem with the firing of the flash. As for exposure, the SB800 would be on manual mode and I adjust the output as necessary. For this shot, shutter speed was at 1/45 at f/8 and flash output was I think 1/32. Hope this is useful to you.

The motion blur on the stationary background and the frozen motion of the foreground subject combine to make a rather disquieting effect (the grimace also). The slow shutter plus flash did that I suppose. Not that I don't like it, but it took me a bit to figure out what was going on.

It took me years to work out... On the 'all sizes' page in flickr copy the link at the bottom (grab the photo's url) and then in rff click on the button with the landscape and sun on it and paste the link in.
