M8 wedding

I am a wedding photographer and have been slowly making the transition from DSLRs into the M8. This past Saturday I used the M8 and the 35/2 for the whole wedding (I also used the 90/2 but only for 10 shots or so)

I love everything about the M8 (size, image quality, but specially that I don't have to compromise my style because of the change from DSLRs into rangefinders).

BTW, I always add grain and textures to my images as the digital images are too clean for my taste.

You spend so much time to make it look like film, why not shoot on film straight away? for 5000 us you can buy alot of film and chemicals, very strange people, in general people are getting strange....

Thanks for the kind words about my work. Also, even though I shot the whole thing with M8 and the 35, I still have all my Canon DSLRs with me, an M7 plus a second shooter.

In the past, I've also shot whole weddings with just a camera and a lens (Canon 1Ds Mark II and 35/1.4) even though I have pretty much every Canon L lens available.

Believe it or not, I can process each image under a minute since I have a pretty tight workflow... Scanning takes longer...

I am sure in the past photographers had tight workflow as well, anyhow my point is you will never make digital file look like film, digital it will always stay fake, it is physical, your clients might like it and you might stay happy through out your life but that wont change a thing 🙂 btw Scanning might take longer but so does good food and good coffee, nescafe is quick though 😀

This is the kind of argument you'd find in APUG

If he is making his money and keeping his clients happy then he is doing his job; I don't think they care how he made his images look the way they do as long as they get what they pay for

In my opinion some of the dust and scratches look a little much, but I do really like the textured feel on alot of those images. Good job

In the case of doing wedding photography for a living, then for the most part - yes.

Gotta put food on the table and $ in the bank before you can spend that extra effort so you can be called a film purist.

Without the drive to make $, how does one make enough money to spend it on a Leica body or two? Greediness to one person could be the desire of a photographer to charge a client as much as he can. To another person, greediness could be a photographer desiring to acquire the exotic camera body that he has been salivating over for years, even though the body itself won't affect the image that one is capturing.
