I took the 50/2.4 LTM Hexanon on a test drive on the M8 a few days ago. I shot DNG files that I transferred via LR5 to my computer, No photoshop or LR5 adjustments of any sort were used, and no editing either. I have all images at my smugmug website:

I had with me the M9 with a collapsible Summicron, and I took one photo with M8+Hexanon and then I would switch for similar photo with the Cron+M9. I will post some other day images from the Cron.

It was I and the birds and lots of tranquility.

Hi Raid. I like your compositions but the point of shooting DNG is so that you can make edits to the file so that you can craft the final look to suit. I'm not sure why one would shoot DNG and not process them, it seems you are leaving so much potential in the files , and by association the M8, untouched.
If you want images 'complete' out of the camera it is better to shoot jpegs, and with the M8 the B&W jpegs are meant to be excellent.
Kind regards
Huss

Hi Huss,
You may have misunderstood what I wanted to say here. As a first step only in using a lens for the very first time, I wanted to just post what the camera gives me. Next step will be to improve the images with LR5 or CS5. I could delete the thread and bring it back after I edit all images.

Wow, the smugsmug UI is rather terrible. I cannot find a way to see the full-resolution image.

The only feedback I can therefore give is that the out-of-focus rendering (back and front) looks good at these smaller sizes.

Is it now better?I am sorry about the past setting at smugmug. I have now set the file size to Original.
