FYI,
In case you are wondering if the center filter is needed with the M8 , the answer is yes.
I was hoping that the crop factor would have eliminated the need for the filter but it does not. The filter is a -1.5 stop factor. The new Tri-elmat will probably be even more difficult to use because it is already an f4. That plus a center filter makes for a very slow lens unless you are doing tripod work.
The 15 distagon is an incredible lens. The focus is SMOOTHER than any of my Leica lenses and the build quality is equal if not better.
I am looking forward to a lot of hiking this spring with the M8 and 15.
BTW, those who are concerned about the lens not being rf coupled, don't. The focusing range is so narrow that with an f4 or 5.6 setting you literally have a point and shot if you leave the camera on A.

Yes the antibiotic is wearing off, and he needs to know, and the little orange button is too discrete.
No one told me my centre filter lens would be difficult to use out of doors, I'd a liked to know.
Where did you order the Rodinal from?

I was not aware of the center filter need. That is interesting.

Yes, but how is the image quality?
Image quality is superb. As far as my eyes can jusge it is equal to leica if not better. Distortion is minimal, contrast is incredible and edge to edge sharpnes is sharp all the way. I will post some pictures tomorrow.
what do you want to see? landscape, city, people? The weather is poor here so outdoor will be limited.

Hello Jorge, can't wait to see the pics, would like to compare them with the CV15, I know there is a big quality difference, but will this be as obvious as stated in a normal sized print?
If you can post some landscape, and maybe a pic taking amidst of a group of people...
Thank you
Reg

At $3,000-4,000 list, that lens is a really tough sell in my book. It's a gigantic chunk of money for a gigantic hunk of a lens with a focal length that is a little bit off the beaten path.
Would love to see some photos from it, though.

Color , esp sky looks pretty uniform to me.

Victor- that is a tasty option. What is the speed and heft of that lens and how do you mount it to an M8? What can you find a lens like that for on the used market?
Thanks in advance.

unfortunately 'heft' is high or weighty (dont know right word) in both cost and size. I have the 15mm 2.8. There is a great 3.4 older version.
cost of 2.8 used is about that of zeiss new, unfortunately
and yes, 2.8 lens is heavy
but the 3.4 pretty good
I also have the VC and find quite satifying for trekking use
I have both the Leica R to M and a Novoflex adapter
with lots of R glass, I need to make them do double work
regards
