Thanks, I found my sample for like 25 bucks, the aperture isn't smooth and the glass isn't in the best shape but it still manages to draw fabulous pictures. I like it more in black and white (of course) but it can really surprise me sometimes in color. I couldn't get an IR filter on it so it was never a favorite on the M8 but I'm liking it a lot on the M9.

I have mine in storage 1000 miles away. I wish I could get at it. Owned it since 1969 with my IIIC from 1949.

Great image. Looks like old color film.

nice photo - looks pretty much like film

and totally OT - what is that movie "fortunate son" that you have in flickr photos - looks very interesting - are you a part of crew or just photographing?

It's an independent short a friend of mine's producing. I met a group of film students when I moved out here a couple years ago and they're starting to do some really cool work. I got to shoot production stills on a western down in death valley at the end of 09 and it was a ton of fun. I've gotten to work on a couple projects since then, Fortunate Son being the latest. It's a WW2 short they're shooting in Napa.
Technically I'm the set photographer, but I love to grip, so I lift heavy sh*t as well.

I still have a ton of fortunate son shots to go through though, when I'm done I'll try to post a link to a slideshow or something like that.

Stylized in Lightroom. Always more then necessary, *shrugs*

Understood - I just wanted to make sure this is not what came out of the camera.

The lens is a good lens - I never used one before recently and, ya, it's awesome for a 60 year old puppy :)

Cheers,
Dave

you said your copy is not in good shape... but damn... it's still better than mine.... mine is now waiting in line for a bath.... can't wait to get it back.

When I sold Leicas years ago you could pick this lens up for almost nothing. Sometimes appreciation takes a while. :^)

Looks softer than my pre ASPH Summicron. Just kidding, well no but that isn't what this is about. The Summitar has a nice stroke. I used mine all the time when I was stationed in San Diego at the zoo. I didn't know much about cameras and had no meter so shooting slide film I learned real fast how not to waste film. I remember how nice some of the kchromes looks. The colors and then in B&W have a natural presentation.

nice shots (I actually quite like the first one). But the look of the burned out areas reveals the digital origin (at least for me)
