M9: Any Photos Leaked Online Yet?

Rob is right. Of course, it's going to look like a Leica M. What other design would they use?

If they were smart, they would cut costs by removing the viewfinder system and use a "live view" LCD on the back to control everything, including focus. That way, you can see if the lens vignettes right away. Plus, you can join the legions of other camera users who have realized that the day of the optical viewfinder has passed.

But seriously, it's a Leica M.

EVF is ok for taking pictures of your cat, flowers, static subjects or family vacation snaps, but the inherent display lag makes them useless for anyone doing work where absolute timing is critical (sports, street-photography, wildlife etc).

Any EVF I have ever seen has a lag of a fraction of a second, making 'puddle jumper' shots next to impossible. They strobe and stutter when you pan.

This is not to be confused with shutter lag or sluggish AF systems. The shutter release on cameras like the E-P1 and Pana G1 are quite crisp. Pre-focusing doesn't resolve this issue either.

The problem is that the EVF lags behind reality for a fraction of a second. What you are seeing on the display is already in the past, so when you trip the shutter you will not end up with the moment in time you are expecting, because it has already passed. We are talking about 1/8th of a second or less, but it is just enough to ruin work where timing is critical.

Unlike optical finders, EVF do not operate at the speed of light. The image needs to be captured, moved off the sensor, processed and then displayed. This is never going to happen as fast as an optical finder.
