Hi all. Some of you might remember I dropped my M9 in the harbour. I have dried the camera out totally now and I charged battery today and turned it on and it goes. Seems like the shutter is jammed on, meaning it is going click, click click. Meter works. My question is Leica, via NZ agent, aren't interested in trying to fix it. Would anyone here have any idea on how I could try to get it going again? I could send them an email directly but wondered if their was someone away from Leica who make give it a go? If not it is a nice addition to my camea collection in my office boardroom cabinet and a reminder not to be in a hurry when I am out shooting🙂

Frankly, its unlikely that its anything but a paperweight now.

On the chance it can be repaired,
those odds increase as each day goes by with added corrosion.
Ship it to Leica Germany yourself.

My sons iPod went through a cycle in the washing machine. I put it in a bowl and filled it with rice. It sat for two three weeks before we remembered about it. It is working just fine.

Can't hurt to try it with the M9.

Same thing happened to me, but salt water and fresh water are entirely different problems.
