M9 on ebay: if ain't got it, fake it!

Exactly. That's the point. Why should this sale be problematic for the shop's credibility? They mention that the marks were deliberately added.
One even wants to read between the lines and discover some "I can't believe why someone did that"-opinion in the article description. ;)

And I would totally agree: Why on earth does someone do such a thing? Such a fool!!

Because half the visitors to any page on the internet don't read, they just look at the pictures.

Read the remarks in this thread closely and you'll see what I mean.

Reading = facts, images = alternative facts... ;)

Yeah, true. If reading is a problem, one should start to rethink things. ;)

Instead of gaffer tape over the red dot, you could put it over the whole top of the camera. And then resell it, of course, as a "real street camera". Or "warzone" camera, or...

I'd use it, but I wouldn't buy it for a standard M9 price.

The prices of this shop are normally more in upper region so I think, the optical state is already calculated in the 2300 EUR. They don't have a normal black one in the shop but I assume it would be 2500-2700 EUR. The prices in shops are always higher than comparable items of private sellers because you get a guarantee and a 14 days return right.

The fact, that people don't read is clearly visible in this thread. It seems some people think, the shop made this to sell it.

Anybody who buys thru eBay has a 14 days return, I think more, actually.
I have disputed things more than once and dispute is always resolved in buyer's favor (eBay wants you to keep buying).

As far as subject camera in question... they dont sell good taste on eBay, unfortunately.

The dispute thing does not work all the time. There are enough cases - at least here in Germany - where the buyer was not able to return the item and get the money back.

When I buy at a shop I don't need a dispute, i just inform the shop that I return the item and they give me the money back.

I think it looks cool!

If it was cheap enough, I would grab it.

Nothing a little more sandpaper can't clean up.

Perhaps the original owner was inspired by the equally hideous Leica edition of the Leica M-P 'Correspondent Set' Created by Mr. Kravitz. Bad taste comes in many shades...
