I hope the guy in the Shipping department figures out how to format my card. I'm going out on a limb here, and am going to suggest staying away from Sandisk UHS-1 SD cards unless you need a write-only memory card.

Dear Brian,

You are missing the point. Leica is SOLELY responsible for the world financial crisis, the collapse of moral standards, and the misunderstanding that says, "Standardization means standardization, and not whatever unworkable variation thereof is foisted on the market by major players who don't understand the word 'standardization'.

Hi, I'm new here. i've had my M9 for around 4 months now.

I had exactly the same problems with exactly the same cards as Mr Lavi, but a couple of months before he went berserk on every Leica forum in the world. While I applaud the fact that he managed to get Leica's attention, it seems very strange to me that he didn't thoroughly test the system before he took it on a professional shoot. I shot 3000 frames on my M9 before its first working assignment. In 20 years as a working photographer I have never used an untested camera or lens on a working assignment.

It took me about 20 minutes of owning an M9 to work out that the 16Gb Sandisk ultra card was incompatible with the camera. So I don't use those cards in it. The cards I do use (lexar at the moment) in the M9 work perfectly. It seems to me that mr Lavi knows he's to blame for not testing new gear and he's now deflecting blame onto Leica, just in case it comes back to bite him. And we're not 100% sure it's not Sandisk who's at fault either.

Yes, there's a problem. yes it needs to be fixed. But i don't think his reactions are balanced or justified.

Postscript to this story: the replacement card came, and failed completely after using SDFORMAT, the utility from SDCARD.ORG- the organization that sets the standard for SD cards. I used the latest Card reader from Sandisk, so there would be no question of the reader supporting the card. This was the only use of the card, did not put it in anything else but the Sandisk reader.

Sandisk has problems. Last Sandisk card that I buy.
