Using the Viso 111 on M9 is great but does anyone know how you can use an off camera flash with the VISO still on?. The only way to activate a flash is via the hotshoe which gets covered when you mount the VISO. The Nikon SC17 flash cord works well but you cannot mount the VISO. Where has the little hole gone where you can plug a flash in. Anyone have any ideas, thanks

Use a chimney finder on the viso and your set.

As for off camera flash, I am looking for guidance as well. Also wireless trigger systems?

The prism finder of the VISO III sits far enough above the top plate that it should be possible to juryrig a braid of 2 wires (one for the central contact and the other for the shoe rail which acts as ground) held in place by a piece of plastic the correct thickness and dimension of the shoe. Firing a non-dedicated doesn't require any circuitry or resistors etc. Not sure about the dedicated contacts though.

Thank you all so much for your suggestions, dumb of me not to think of the chimney finder. If I do get a solution set up for the 90 degree finder I will post.
thanks again

And this guy supplies a fitting off-camera cable

That guy is also a practicing dentist, no wonder he's brilliant :D

This is his version of what I was proposing. I haven't measured to see if those dimensions are enough to clear a Viso-III prism but I suspect they are. I also think a thin piece of plastic (like a flash shoe cover/protector) could be modified with channels to hold epoxied-in hot and ground wires to come out the rear, giving an even lower profile.
