Hi!

I'll like to know from users if the 90mm Summicron last pre ASPH is a good buy to use with a M9? Does it keep its qualities as when used with films. I'm already using a Rokkor 90mm f/4 but i'm looking for a another lens with a different signature for portraits.

E55 Canada is good on M9, but make sure it focus correctly at all range.

+1. I have that lens, also the thin/light and heavy versions of the T-E, plus a late-model screwmount Elmar. All seem to retain their characteristic looks on the M9. Focus is a big factor, and it took a careful re-adjusting of my rangefinder to make the 90 (and my other lenses for that matter) really sparkle on the M9. The rangefinder was pretty far off kilter as it came from the factory, now it's perfect.

Sort of like delivering a new car out of tune and you have to take it in for repairs the very next day or you can fix it yourself if you can.

What is so hard about getting the RF correct from the factory..

Many think the pre-aspherical lenses mated with a digital sensor bring out a wonderful aesthetic. The E55 90 cron is one of my favorite lenses. I used it on an M8, not the M9. With an M9 I would expect to gain the same qualities with perhaps a smidge more vignette/softness in the corners wide open. Its strength is portraits. And yes, it's very easy to miss focus wide open. In critical situations I would bracket focus just to be sure.
