This is my first round of snapshots with the Nikkor 35/1.8 that I got from Johan.

We drove along the beach later afternoon and just before the fog/clouds covered up a starting sunset.

The lens is compact, and I like the look when matching it up with the M9.

While this vintage lens seems to be a favorite for B&W images, I find it great for color images too.

It was interesting to watch the changing horizon, as the clouds moved in. The park ranger told us that this was due to air passing over the gulf water.

I also used this lens for photos of my family.
We lost power at our home for about one hour during the "storm", so I tried using the M9 at its max ISO and the lens handheld and wide open. There was hardly any light in the room.

I continued this morning my exploration of the M9+Nikkor combo with fog and fishing boats. I set the aperture to 4.0 so that with 1/1000 as shutter speed, I was able to get some sharp bird images. I am very pleased with how this lens paints in such weather.

The images taken with tne Nikkor on tne M9 look muted in comparison with the Rogid Summicron on the M8. I used both cameras at this location together.

Raid,

I love my 35/1.8 Nikkor in LTM. I found that I have about a half stop of yellow filter built into my lens due to nuclear hardening. I only shoot B&W and my Nikkor has this greatly detailed midrange and a very broad range of contrast.

Do you notice a yellow color cast in your lens? Nice to see you great use of the Nikkor in color. Also thanks for the thread that uses the 50 Rigid in those foggy conditions.

I like shooting the 50 Rigid and 35/1.8 Nikkor in rainy overcast conditions. The rendering is spectacular. Particularly good on the Monochrom as well as film (especially Acros).

Hi Cal,

This is lens is new to me, and I am still exploring its use. I noticed that the Rigid Summicron gave me "more light" in the images, which could mean that my Nikkor also has some of that nuclear hardening that you have mentioned above.

Raid,

On my lens it is a measurable half stop offset in exposure using a M-body's TTL metering.

I think you will find that the Nikkor loves moody weather like rain and overcast. The mid-tones I'm able to capture with the Nikkor is rather spectacular and is very much like medium format in B&W.

I bought my Nikkor in lew of a 35 Cron V.1. Although the cost is high understand that only about 1500 were ever made in LTM, and when compared to the price of a 35 Cron V. 1 the price is kinda reasonable. I love that the distance scale is in feet only: I wish all my lenses were marked only in feet. My advice to you is realize how lucky you are to own a rather rare lens and never sell it.

Hi Cal,
I will hang on to this lens. Thanks for your input here.
I have the Summicron V1, which I love using too.

Cal, I used that lens (your lens) on my M9 and did not get a yellow cast at all.

My images also do not show a yellow cast. Maybe the difference between my images taken with M9 with Nikkor and M8 with Summicron are due mostly due to having different focal lengths. I suspected this to be the case.

My 35/1.8 has a yellow cast, too. I don't mind - I use yellow filters often anyways. Might not show if the camera does white balancing .... or your lens might have been bleached recently (UV lamp or sunshine).

Nice landscapes and fog photos, Raid.
