Did you ask the seller if it has applecare?
It's transferable you know?
Apple replaced my 17" mbp under applecare with a full spec retina 15".
The monitor developed an issue in tge last quarter of applecare coverage.
It's a really nice service if it's available to you.

Yeah just signed in using a Toronto IP, actually cheaper than in the US at $822 USD at today's favorable exchange rate.

But with tax, based on Toronto final price was $1241 CD, or $928 USD. In NYC the price is $978 USD.

Today at least, better prices in Canada! Bless those currency traders.

$600CD which is $448 USD is a great saving frank! Especially considering the base model has not really changed.

I got a great little LG CD writer for $30 USD, works perfectly, and has an eject button.

The MacBook Air is a wonderful small machine with a mighty punch and oodles of battery power (12 hours on mine). It's perfect for creative people like us.

IMHO, an iPad is a device where you "consume" other people's work (e.g., surf the web, look at images, read news, emails, books), whereas a laptop/notebook is a device where you can actually "create" things (e.g., photoshop images, create web sites, etc).

That was made for the first generation iPad, but never really worked as additional memory, I owned one.

Now it is easy to move files to a desktop wirelessly.

There are newer connectors, not sure if they are read-only -- http://www.cnet.com/pictures/must-have-ipad-accessories-pictures/.

big Mac Air fan here. used mid-2010 13-inch model for many years without issues, other than it was getting slow to run newer and heavier programs. got recently early-2015 model, and it feels the same machine, just faster.

I have a mid-2011 13" with 128GB. All my non-essential storage is on drives connected to the network, including my iTunes library. (Since my iTunes library is synced to my iPhone, it's not really needed on my MBA itself.) The 2x 2TB network drives are USB2 drives attached via hub to an Apple Time Capsule, which serves up WiFi and stores my backups.

Optical drives not made for Mac may or not work properly - I bought the external Apple Super Drive which was only $69 IIRC, minus an employee discount.

So now this machine is 5 years old and I have NO reason to upgrade to newer hardware. The only advantage would be Lightning 2 ports and 802.11AC wireless. The 802.11AC radio on my iPhone 6s is wicked fast, so that would be nice. I'm not using any Lighning devices, but would like to. I'm waiting for those prices to come down a bit more.

And if you need anything left behind Frank, just say the word. 😉

I've been using the MacBook Air line of products since the very original 13" as my main machine. My current machine is Mid 2013 "Ultimate" 11" (maxed out spec for that generation). I'm a UX designer and I do all of my work from visual designs to information architecture design, from investor presentations to prototyping. It's a wonderful little machine and I can't imagine going back to the Pro line which I used before the original MBA came out.

I have a set of 27" Cinema/Thunderbolt display, BT keyboard and trackpad at home, and got a duplicate setup at my office. I can have a full desktop experience with more than enough power for my needs at home or office, and enjoy the lightweight and low profile portable workstation experience when I work from coffee shops or flying for work. I don't abuse my tools but definitely don't baby neither, and the MBA is holding up quite well. I'm going to hold on to this 11" as long as I can and hoping the next gen 12" MacBook Retina will be a bit more usable for daily work.

BTW, there is a rumor that Apple will be killing the 11" MBA, introducing new 13" and 15" early next year. I'm so spoiled with the size of 11" I hope the 12" MB Retina will be ready for prime time by then.

I bought my wife a 13" MacAir (AirMac?). It is amazingly small and light compared to my 13" Macbook. And it runs quite a long time on battery, too. The only down side I can see is it doesn't have a CD drive, so can't load programs you might have in your collection that are on Cd or DVD. But of course there have to be limits to what can be stuffed into such a slender computer. Anyway, Sue loves hers.

Okay, dumb question alert: for my iPhone and iPad, I get apps from the apple store. Can I also download these apps onto the MacBook Air?

Andy: the seller did mention she bought AppleCare. How do I transfer it to me?

You should be able to find App Store in your Applications folder (not sure what OS version you need for this). There are many applications distributed outside of Apple App Store as well.

If things haven't changed in the recent years, AppleCare is attached to the computer, not to the purchaser so you shouldn't have to do anything. I think you can call the customer service to make sure your MBA actually has AppleCare on it.

Hi Frank

IOs apps stay in on the cloud until you instal them. You'll see them in your "purchased" menu but, they are bot on the computer hd.
IOs apps and OSX apps do not cross over.

Snapseed was once available for osx.
I have it on my mba 11". You may be able to find a copy although El cap may not support it (I'm still using Mavericks on my mba).

The previous owner would call apple support and transfer the applecare to you.
They will need your iTunes email address.
I tried transferring online through an apple-support page but it did not work.
It's worth the trouble to transfer.
