I recently purchased a Leica R Leitz Weztlar Macro Elmarit-R 60mm 2.8 for use on my digital m4/3 E-P2 via an adapter.

In the discussion in a macro forum it was mentioned that such lenses have an exceptionally wide image circle. I already have a Leica R to X-Pan adapter which I purchased to convert to Olympus OM.

At least one of the R series lenses has been recommended for use on the Pentax 645 digital camera.

Does anyone here have experience of using the Elmarit on X-Pan and/or have any relevant information?

Remember that the lens will not be rangefinder coupled when adapter to the Xpan.

I have just confirmed that. I would be relying on distance markings on the barrel and using apertures small enough to cover any error. Of course (35mm format) I have to allow for the image taking up only 75% (linear) of the viewfinder box for the 45mm lens, selected by default by the adapter.

I have someone RF-converted a 50 Summicron R for the XPan. The focusing is off for 8 feet and under :-(

At close distance, the image circle is large enough to cover for most of the pano frame, but further out, it only covers up to about 52mm.
