I am trying to understand how to best work my new X100. Here is something I cannot really understand the logic in:
I am so far primarily working with the camera in OVF mode only. If I press right on the function wheel I can see in the OVF that the flash function changes which is great. You get an instant control without taking you eye away from the OVF and the object. BUT if I for example press left of the function wheel the choice between the macro and no macro mode is showing up in the EVF instead - why not in the OVF? Same is true för WB and Drive.
Can anyone explain the logic here or what I am doing wrong?

Since the camera can't really focus close in OVF-mode due to paralellax etc, that's probably the reason. You can only enable macro mode using EVF/LCD.

Mac - thanks... may be the reason. This is one of those many small details you have to get used to. Initially I got very frustrated having totake my eye from the OVF/viewfinder window to look at the LCD monitor but then realised that you could of course just toggle between the OVF and EVF in the viewfinder window to control those settings. I think the X100 grows as you start to learn how to use it! Really like it!

I must admit using different cameras feels much like using different operating systems on computers and smartphones, they all do things differently. It's just a matter of learning how they do it and embedding that to muscle memory
That said, the X100 could surely benefit from some firmware tweaking to make the interface more coherent and logical. The crucial thing is however direct controls of the most important parameters and good IQ. I think it does that fairly well.
