This might sound slightly old school but anyone here still subscribes or reads magazines ? I'm looking for interesting suggestions, my objective is to discover new photographers, learn new techniques and interesting things etc
I'd like to stay away from those who print nothing but photoshop tips and dslr reviews, not that there's anthg wrong with it, i'm just looking for something a bit more artsy in nice physical prints
I'm a bw die hard, street photography and documentary fan

I get B&W (US Version) and Rangefinder (a free magazine)...that's it
I dropped American Photo & Outdoor Photography due to them covering the digital market a bit too much...
Rangefinder has a lot of digital coverage but it's free so...hey...

Get a copy of B&W...I think you'll like it...
 
I also subscribe to B&W but recently the publishers decided to merge it with their COLOR magazine which combined is now more a coffee table book than a magazine. I am on the fence about re-newing now.

I still get American Photo but not sure about renewing it anymore. It's a little less ad driven than many of the other magazines but I'm kind of tired of it.

There is a fairly new online magazine called "ADORE NOIR" which is a decent compromise because you can print an article if you wish. http://www.adorenoir.com/
 
I used to subscribe to the UK Black & White magazine, but it went more digital than analogue and I no longer get it. Probably worth having a look at, nevertheless.
The only magazine I now subscribe to is "Lenswork". Inspiring work is featured - much less of the "how to do it" though. I get the "Extended" version which gives a wider bi-monthly DVD content than the print version that comes in the intervening months.

Here is what I buy:
PDN - subscription for Canada is twice what you pay in the US, but I am going to subscribe as I have liked every issue and read it cover to cover, usually in one sitting!
Lenswork
Silverprint
B&W/Color
and occasionally American Photo

I get a lot of great advice right here on RFF too!
 
To discover new photographers I suggest you Aperture magazine, but you won't find anything on gears and reviews. By the way Aperture is also a foundation.
 
There is a new mag that just came out called Films and Grains

I understand it is 4 times a year. I have not read this and therfore can't vouch for anything (content, editorial abilities, etc) but it might interest you?

I got my copy a week or so ago but haven't opened it...
The decision to merge with Color Magazine may cause me to drop it...
I'll decide only after giving the new format a good look over...
 
Whenever I'm in the UK I pick up an issue of the British Journal of Photography. Haven't gotten around to subscribing yet, though.
I have a subscription for Interview Magazine but I don't receive it all that often.

The BJP has been showing up on the rack at some of the major chains (Borders, Barnes & Noble) since it switched to monthly publication last year, and is usually worth it.
