Does anyone that's used the Olympus and Panasonic cameras know if they offer a magnified focusing aid when using adapter M lenses? I recently tried the Olympus EP-1 but couldn't access the magnified focusing aid that kicks in with their naitive lenses. Maybe it only works with CPU coupled lenses. Does that also apply to the G-1 or GF-1?

With the G-1 you have to press two buttons to get the focusing aid. It's not automatic when you turn the focus ring of the lens.

To obtain magnified view on the panasonic camera range when fitted with an adapted lens you need to push the left button on the four way controller followed by the centre button, I have no experience of the Olympus cameras but i would have thought something similar applied to them.

With the E-P1, you need to have the live view with the little green box displayed--the box is the magnification area (press the info button to get to the screen). Simply press the OK button in the center of the controller to enlarge the view or return to the full frame.

There are a lot of default info screens which makes cycling thorough them a pain. Fortunately, Olympus allows you to customize how many live screen options are displayed--two is the least number.

BTW, the control dial shifts between a 7x and 10x display magnification and the arrow keys change the position of the magnification area in the frame.
