Michael:
You're welcome.
Like you I thought the original rather expensive, and too large for me.
Now, I've got the compact edition on pre-order from Amazon.co.uk for end of September delivery at £22 or so.
Enjoy the book.

I got mine from Asia Books in Siam Paragon, Bangkok, Thailand at 30% off. Lucky me the book shop had a sale when I was there last month. Mine was the huge edition.

Many of the pictures are quite stunning. There are one or two people missing from the book though, Sebastiao Salgado for example. His omission is presumably because he left Magnum. Predictably small-minded given the nature of Magnum politics.

Haha, Very funnny.....I was in Asia books earlier tonight but not at Siam Paragon, I was at a different mall....the funny thing is, I received a 15% discount on my next purchase (expires in a month) and I was going to use it to purchase Magnum Magnum but I think I will hold off on it...that is unless they have some crazy sale on the book in the next couple of months....I guess I wil use my discount for my second choice...the photo book that was done for the King's Birthday....thanks again....Michael

Michael, what's the title of the King's Birthday book? Gotta have one. Actually, I'm flying there again this morning.

One factor might be they don't have distribution rights on his photos anymore? Also he might not want to have his photos included.
Other notable "defectors" are James Nachtwey, Eugene Richards and Mary Ellen Mark.

The King is a hardcore shooter, when he got out of the hospital after his stroke a while back he had a big DSLR in his hands and he was doing it.

Hello,
I've got a question to owners of "Magnum Stories" and "Magnum Magnum":
I'm buying the first one soon, and i think of buying second one later as well.
Could owners of both of them tell me, are there many photos repeated between these albums?
There's only one of them available in a bookstore i found, so i can't compare myself.
Thanks,
Pawel

If you're going to buy Magnum Magnum there's a new smaller scale (and cheaper) version coming out soon. I have both but haven't done a comparison between them.

You know you're a hardcore shooter when they make you one of these:

I saw the compact version of Magnum Magnum in my bookshop last night - £35 and I bought it (even though it was all sealed up).
Although it is marketed as 'compact', it is the same height as Magnum Stories and only an inch less deep. Hardback. The photos are certainly large enough to enjoy looking at without wishing they were bigger.
No time to do anything more than open it up and have a quick browse - the quality of the printing is superb the B&W photos and colour. Much better than Magnum Stories. A couple of photos I saw were split over two pages which is not so good but the rest had more than enough space to 'breathe'.
Looking forward to having a better look tonight with a cup of tea and some digistives

I bought what I suspect is the new compact version from Amazon (Canada) just now. It's 50$, which is a bit more reasonable than the $150+ the older one sells for, assuming you can still find it.
