It depends a bit, I have Timberlands, Meindl mountainboots but I have trekked through the Atlas mountains wearing Teva sandals.

Hiking boot are super-comfy, but they tend to wear quickly on concrete. I discovered Camper 'Pelotas' about 7 years ago and I've replaced each pair that's worn out with the same again since then...

The biggest problem for me. No matter whether I shoot or not my shoes usually die after <1year. I guess the reason for that is my weight (about 125kg) and the fact that I walk quite a lot (don't have a car).
I would appreciate any advice on high quality everyday shoes that will last. Gore-tex is a plus since it is raining all the time here in Bergen, Norway.
Is there any reason for buying two pairs and using them simultaneously? Heard somewhere that such "rest" helps.

if you don't wear the same shoes every day, it allows the lining to dry out, and they last longer.

I've got either Lloyd leather shoes or some Nike sneakers (similar to Vans' or so)

I'm impressed with all of you who know the names of your shoes. Mine are black ones, brown ones, winter boots, work boots, and running shoes.

Brown....
We were highly patriotic in my family, and the die was cast when my dad came back from the "brown shoe" war. I wear brown shoes.

Here's a little adventure with shoes.
This summer i was in a slightly exotic place for work (and not only) and messed up my Intercontinental shoes rather well. (it's not a brand - it's a name i gave them since they were on 3 continents already, plus some remote island volcano.) Then i had to go directly to the US, also for work (and not only) where i decided "shoes are cheap in the US so i should buy some". So i went to some shoe shops (San Diego downtown).
Shoes were freaking expensive.
In the end i bought a pair of adidas - sorry i have no clue if they are running, tennis, walking, basketball or what shoes. They are not hiking boots, that i know (that's the only sport i do - i know, i live unhealthy).
Anyway. I also decided to get some extra padding for it and other shoes. The ones that you can remove and dry out.
Turned out, the padding was over 20 bucks. Found out only when i was about to pay.
Then turned out my CC "does not work". The guy asked if i have "another one" so i told him no i have only one, even one is luxury where i live, he looked at me like i come from the outer moon of Jupiter. I had just not enough cash so i went to wells fargo a few blocks away to pick up some cash.
At the atm it turned out my maestro debit card is not accepted. I tried all of them machines, they had different stickers on them. The security fellow asked me in the end what am i doing and looked VERY weird at me. Especially being in those shoes,i guess
I told him i am trying to buy new shoes but it's a bit problematic in this town, and asked him how he managed to get those shiny ones.
I went a few blocks further and managed to get some cash finally. Went back to the shop, the dude said no problem with a strong pakistani accent (this detail is not really relevant). He had a beautiful exotic girl working there too, who asked me if i want a pair of socks for my shoe. A what, i say. A pair of SOCKS, she said, with a big smile. I said no thanks, the socks are still fine, and i still have a few clean ones that i washed in the hotel sink the night before. The hotel was a freaking 500 bucks per night Omni (at a 70% reduced group rate for us) but the two-digit laundry service price was not reduced, neither internet breakfast mineral water or any other thing that should normally cost nil, or cents only.
So anyway i thanked for the socks and had to say NO to her and walked out from the shop with a suspiciously looking brown paper bag under my arm. The shoe box i threw away, i'm not going to carry home a friggin shoe box from over the Atlantic.
Entering the hotel the receptionist looked twice at my paper bag and reminded me that i only payed for the first 4 nights so far. (Although normally full payment is only done at checkout, afaik). By the way that's why my CC did not work, because she wanted to charge the full amount at once which is above my daily thousand limit as I understood later (safety measures), so she chased me over the road to the petco baseball stadion to get some cash. I walked back with a pocket bulging with 200 sticky 5-dolar bills hoping nobody will shake it out of me before i reach the destination.
Anyway. I left them the old shoes in the garbage can and came home in my fancy new adidas.
So that's what i'm wearing nowadays, unless i need something more serious looking (and why would i? A.F. nobel prize winner gave his talk in sport shoes, probably chinese too, like my adidas).
cheers

Adidas Supernova Cushion running shoes - very cool for the heat of south Texas and the most comfortable shoe I have ever worn. And considerably less than $100.

Meindl boots, made in Germany... they are in fact handmade in Germany, without asian child labour, and they last forever. Some of their boots are nicely over-engineered, especially the one where the foot warms a kind of foam material so it gets warm and adapts to the foot...

If someone knows an equivalent for shoes that look better with a suit and tie, let me know.
