So these Magnum square print sales have been going on for a few years and I'm wondering if anyone has bought prints in the past that they're not sure about anymore.

For anyone who doesn't know what I'm talking about, Magnum Photos (more recently together with Aperture) occasionally (yearly?) holds a one-week print sale where they sell selected signed or estate stamped 6x6in prints for the price of $100.

Last year I bought a couple of pictures, one of them a Bruce Davidson print that I'm not so sure about anymore. It's a lovely photograph but I found myself regretting the purchase as I had my eyes on another one by Leonard Freed but ended up going with the Davidson for the simple reason that it was signed by the artist whereas the other one was estate stamped.

Is anybody else in a similar situation? Or maybe you just had one up on a wall for a while and you're tired of looking at it? Maybe we could all post our pictures and make some nice swaps happen?

I bought several in one round, with the clear ntention of reselling 5-6 of them when they become expensive.
Never sold any:))
Edit: ...and to keep the ones i like.

Did you happen to buy the Brooklyn gang print? I liked that one and didn’t pick it up last round. If you wanna sell it to me, send me a pm.

Yes, this one: https://pro.magnumphotos.com/Asset/-2K7O3RROROR.html

It's a lovely picture. In hindsight I think I would've preferred to get this one by Leonard Freed: https://pro.magnumphotos.com/Asset/-2K7O3R3HGFES.html

No quite sure if I want to just sell it, though. I might sell it at a high enough profit but it's not like I regret having spent the $100. I do like the photo and I like having prints on my wall. It's just that this particular one doesn't fit with the other ones I have up so I thought maybe I could swap it for another one. (Truth be told, it was never actually supposed to go on my wall. I got the Davidson print as a Christmas gift for my girlfriend at the time but we split up before Christmas. I guess sometimes it's not good to buy your Christmas gifts in November ;) )

Which ones did you buy? :)

some from the "closer" series from june 2017.
All 3 from Capa, + George Rodger,'s Capa portrait; Erich Lessing's Budapest pic; Erwitt's kissing bride in the car; Eve Arnold's Marilyn; and some more, from Bruce Gilden "Cemetery", Jacob Aue Sobol "arrivals and departures", Stuart Franklin "tank man" (tiananmen sq), Steve McCurry's "girl in a chinese coat".
Quite some... but I got one for free out of these:)

Not sure though that a swap would be efficient overseas as the mail service would get the most benefit out of it...

We're probably rather close so it wouldn't be an overseas swap but all those prints aren't really what I'm looking for. But it's a nice selection you got!
