Mailing Address for Camera Leather?

I installed the leather from Camera Leather yesterday on my OM-1. (I don't have a rangefinder with bad leather)

Very expensive, but really nice. Oh boy!

Ordered my covering last weekend...... got an e-mail from him this morning (last night I guess in the States) informing me that my order will be mailed today.

id hate to down anyone or their business, and I certainly understand the issue with flooding but morgan has had a reputation long before such events for not shipping or responding to emails after an order is made and paid for. his product is top notch as far as quality is concerned and several of my cameras are wearing his kits, but each and every time (starting well over year ago) that I ordered I got the same thing. no shipment no emails, no responses, nothing. each and every time it took sending an email stating that I would soon be opening a paypal dispute to get my money back and then my product showed up in the mailbox pretty quick. I can’t say if he just has poor business practices or if he genuinely can’t handle the amount of business his website does, but either way he loses quite a few customers due to this, and I personally have decided to no longer use his services or recommend him to others until I see that this has changed. I’m not an impatient person, but one expects to receive paid for goods in a timely manner, and at the very least keep good contact with people who are waiting for paid items, so that we know the situation. the lack of communication is really the factor that will keep me from being a customer henceforth. its just not acceptable business standards. I politely sent him an email the first time I dealt with this (with my first order) that he should put somewhere on his website that orders could take a while to be received or something similar, but I imagine he wouldn’t do that because it could drive away business. but if he can’t or won’t keep up, I would think the strongly negative word of mouth is doing his business more harm.

its all a shame really as his product is top notch and there really isn’t anyone else that I know of that offers such a large selection.

There seems to be a wide range of experiences regarding Morgan. Personally, my experience is very good. He promptly responded to my email inquiry and suggested a specific cover for my IIIc. I paid immediately and 2 weeks later I had my new cover here in Italy. Ben fatto.

I ordered on Feb 28th of this year and still don't have my cover. I've sent some e-mails to him but I pretty much gave up on it. Live and learn.

I have had great dealings with Morgan. I've had flood issues so understand what he is going through although I would have to agree that he should accepting orders if he cannot fill them in a timely manner.

On another note, I've sent my M2 to Shintaro for a repaint about 2-3 years ago (I've lost track of the when I actually sent it and the numerous emails which have gone unanswered). I'm out about $1200 US (500 for the M2 and 700 for the paint). Funny, he responded quickly to my intial inquiry that it would take about 3 months. Actually received an email that he received it. After an additional email, no more responses.

Given the situation with the disaster in Japan, I will let it go for another year or so before I email him again but am losing hope that I will ever see my camera or my money again.

Shintaro is famous on the Leica User's Group (LUG) for poor customer service.

I've had good luck with Morgan and I like his product. As far as never knowing when you'll get your goods, he doesn't seem much different than DAG or Sherry.

The only other repair business I know of that takes months or years for the simplest of jobs is Gunsmiths. Usually a year before you get your stuff back.

The amount of threads at RFF relating to poor service or unreliable supply, not to mention failure to communicate with customers, is bizzare to say the least!

Not responding to people who have actually paid you and would like to know where their purchase is after several months of waiting, is bordering on criminal IMO!

I had to post my experience. I ordered a a cover for a Leica IIIc that I'm refurbishing. I ordered 10/1 and received my order today, 10/3. I haven't had a chance to install it yet, but it's really pretty! He's in VT - I'm in NJ - so it didn't have too far to go. Still - an excellent performance. "Black Beauty" leather is a nice replacement for Vulcanite. (Especially when the camera has no Vulcanite!)

OK, let's pump some new info in this thread: order placed on April 6th for 5 kits, instant payment, instant "thank you for your payment" reply, "we should have all of these done this coming week" (namely by April 13th).
And, as you might already imagine, 0 (zero, nil, nothing, nada) communication ever since. I mean mutual communication, not just my (increasingly) questioning emails.
I admit I'm incredibly curious if anyone received their orders during April and this first half of May.

Things haven't changed much on this front. I placed an order on Feb 8th and was told to expect my kit in 3 weeks. We are now at 6 weeks and I haven't received anything...and all of my three emails have garnered no response. I agree with the others...I really don't mind waiting for a good product but the lack of communication is absolutely infuriating and is completely unacceptable IMO. Needless to say, I won't be ordering from Morgan again in the future.

when you reach them through a complaint at paypal it seems to work faster

Agreed. After 45 days I opened a dispute with Paypal. I got a response from Cameraleather within three days and my covering in another two days. So I closed the dispute.

I thought that Paypal had a 60 day window to file. Either I was wrong or they changed it, but it is a 45 day period to open a dispute. Keep an eye on the calendar and simply do it. The worst that happens is that you get your money back, and the best is that you get your covering quickly.

No downside, I think. I believe that Morgan and company are disorganized and maybe incompetent, running an operation that has outgrown him. But that they aren't active thieves. I recently ordered another set of coverings, and in the paypal comment noted that I hoped that I didn't have to file a dispute with paypal for non-delivery again. I received my order 6 days later.

I ordered GripTac for my ZM rangefinder on Friday night, March 15, 2013.

The postman delivered it Tuesday, March 25, 2013.

I'm still waiting for a lizard skin for my M9. 17 months later.
Have emailed the guy every 3 months.
Mildly devastated by this experience as it was bloody expensive!
