Hi I know it is not normal protocol for a newbie to just come on at talk about something they are selling but given the scarcity of Maizenberg's book I thought it worth the risk. It is not an original but a comb bound copy. I am selling it on Ebay. Basically getting out of film.
With apologies for the usual courtesies of becoming a regular poster.

I'm surprised I missed your listing, Jim. I do a weekly search in the UK listings of Photography->Books, Manuals, Magazines for several things, including 'Maizenberg'.
Has anyone ever found a downloadable English language version of Maizenberg? I've downloaded the Russian version from USSRPhoto and attempted a partial translation via Google "Language Tools" with some fairly mixed results. . .
e.g. "Finger gear easily gets into the castle drive, since, slipping on his anterior oblique toe, it lowers the disc and gets between the fingers" (From section on Kiev II).
Actually, reading this sentence again now, I think I can almost understand what it means, but a good translation would be much easier to use, if rather less entertaining!
Steve.

Hello,
I think I should feel lucky, for having Maizenberg's book in my library...
Anyways, there are some very useful info and some translations at http://cccp.alien-planet.net/kiev2rep_1.htm
and somewhere else in that site.
I remember I've seen a Maizenberg in full-scanned .pdf file, somewhere on the web, but I don't remember where...
Best wishes,
Elmar Lang

Thanks for the link, E.L. He seems to have started translation of the Kiev description and dismantling sections in Maizenberg, but there's still a long way to go to get to the repair/adjustment part! It's a very interesting site; I hadn't seen it before.
Maizenberg's book looks potentially very useful - he seems to have known what he was talking about.
For fans of Google Language Tools, here's another extract, exactly as received: -
"Before installing the liner must reel in her upper shutter (see Fig. 326), making for almost two full revolutions (less than three or four planochki blinds). So gather at the factory."

The full english language PDF is elsewhere on that site.
I found it with a BING search.

Many thanks, Geoff. In plain sight on the 'Repairs' page! It does seem very good indeed, and a good translation.

Hello,
yes! the Majzenberg book is on the repair page, and downloadable in full. I forgot that it was exactly on that site (a very informative page indeed!).
As said, I have the original paper edition that can be considered a little bibliographical rarity.
Mr. Majzenberg was a deep expert in the field of repair and design of cameras and the book, besides some little uncertainties in the use of English is a fascinating work to read.
Best wishes,
E.L.
