Mamiya 7,50mm or 65mm ?

Have recently acquired a Mamiya 7 with the 80nn lens,really nice and modern(to me),but already I'm wanting a wider view.Am hoping to hear some experienced views.I've both the 40mm and 50mm lens with my Bronica ETRSI,the 40mm seems to have a significantly wider view than the 50mm,surprising to me considering the relatively small difference in focal length.But of course this is a different format and I have no other point of reference for a
comparison.
The 43mm Mamiya lens is completely out of reach.It sounds like an awkward question I know,but I'm hesitant about this not insignificant outlay without some considered opinions.

Hello Peter,

i had the same question with the 43mm and 50mm. I know you don't want to get the 43mm, but since I now own both, I can tell you a bit about the small diference in focal and it's results.

The main reason why I bought the Mamiya 7 II was because of their wideangle lenses. I want to do landscape photography with it and so I got both wideangle lenses. If you like landscapes, you should get the 50mm. If you do more portraits and street photography, the 65mm could be the better choice.

As you can see in the following pictures, there is a noticeable difference in the perspective both lenses create: The 43mm is a real wideangle lens while the 50mm is only 7mm longer in focal length but it creates a more neutral look - it just shows a scene without distortion.

The first picture was taken with the 43mm, the second with the 50mm lens.

Both pictures were taken with the 50mm lens.

Mamiya claims the 50mm is like a 25mm or 24mm lens on 35mm, but I use it (haha, these shots were from my first 3 rolls) more like a longer lens. The water bubble in the external viewfinder is perfect for arrangement.
