Mamiya 7/7ii Photos - Wide Lens Options

Wow, these are all too good. I am now feeling the need to buy a Mamiya 7 😀

I have to keep telling myself, "It's the photographer, not the camera" and in that case, you all are damn good!

I use both the 43mm and the 65mm and they are both great lenses - a couple here from my gallery, shot with the 43 which marginally I prefer. Although the 65mm is my most recent acquisition so maybe I just need to use it more often to get to love it more.

If you live the 80mm FL, get the 50.

If you find the 80 a wee bit long, consider the 43 and 65 combo.

i have the 80 and 50, and agree with this point: spread them out. unless you arent worried about costs, whats the point of having both an 80 and 65, 65 and 50, or 50 and 43?

I have an 80 and 65, and agree with this point, which is why I don't carry the 80.

Yeah tell me about, whew ... These are amazing...
I have been wringing my hands for the past few weeks, as to get out of a Leica M system,
and do most of my work with a Mamiya rangefinder system, in my case the Mamiya 6.

These images are ..wow .... very, very impressive.

I find it is a matter of shooting style. I had the 80mm and the 50mm and bought the 65mm. When I can carry two lenses, it is the 65 and the 50. Normally it is just the 65. But then my 35mm two lens combo is a 35mm and a 28mm. I leave the 50, 25 & 21mm at home.

But my style is not to find something and decide which lens to use. My subjects and photo ops disappear in seconds. I choose a lens in an attempt to accommodate the greatest number of opportunities that may arise knowing I will make use of the lens on the camera. It is just what you photograph and how you go about it.

Very nice composition. I was wondering if your metering strictly through the camera or using an external light meter? Are you compensating at all or just using the meters suggested exposure?

The 43/50mm lenses are the real winners of the line-up, if you ask me. The 65/80 lenses are also good, but not quite in the same league. I went with the 50mm because I can use the entire VF rather than rely on the external one, it's similar to other lenses (focal lengths) that I enjoy and is "wide" without being "too wide."

These are all the shots taken with my N50mm f/4L lens.

I find the M7's meter extremely accurate as long as you use it like a spot meter.

The 43 is an amazing lens, but I didn't feel confident shooting that wide and wound up selling it. If I get another M7 I'd go for the 65 (craygc's great pics help make the case). No doubt the 43 is ridiculously sharp (like twice as sharp as my Pentax 67 45mm), but I never quite jelled with it...

I'm the same as Bob. I use the 65 most, if I had to add one less it would be the 50, another, it would be the 80 and another, the 150. So yes, I could find myself carrying 50,65,80. It works for me better than anything else and thats all that matters.

The 43 is great but I find it more specialist than any of the others.

I am confusing which lens i have to get for first, but i found myself that i love shooting landscapes and outdoors, and this camera will be for carry on, so i think i have to be on wide side, and i was thinking if i will travel this year and carry film camera for first time then i will be busy shooting landscapes, so i think i have to go with 43mm.

Got 65mm as my normal range even 80mm can be better, but i went with 65mm due to i like to have wider to normal range most of the time, so 65mm will suit me better, now my next lens will be 43mm definitely, hope soon during or after my vacation trip.
