Mamiya 7II w/ Metz CT 45

Looking for some views on this set-up, or similar. Am after a handle-flash setup for street photography. I'm not wedded to the Metz in particular, but they are easy units to get used.

I have never used a Metz so I can't really say about it. With my Super Press 23 I have used Vivitar 285 and Sunpak 544 for all kinds of photos except street (Flash and street weren't the type of street I would have done.) The only problem I had with the 285 was I once laid it on an uneven surface and broke the hot shoe. I didn't know where to source a replacement, so it took almost a year to stumble across a replacement in a chance visit to a photo shop in Hawaii.

I have used smaller as well of course, but those were the only large flashes I have used. The main difference was of course the power for reaching long distances when necessary.

Since the Mamiya 7-II. like mine, has only a simple hot-shoe, it can use any flash. Metz makes an adaptor for its SCA system for generic hot shoes and the camera has a PC terminal. That means it'll work. But then, so would a 622 Sunpak.

My Metz 45CL4-Digital works just fine, except it has a tendency to get a little "hot." I can tone that down by lying to it about the ISO of the film in use. The coverage, laterally, is fine on 80mm and you can get a clip-on spreader for slightly wider lenses. Vertical coverage is somewhat more limited, but still adequate. (Well, what would one expect from that shape head and the lens setup?)
