Maybe someone can help me out. Just picked up a decent looking Mamiya Super 23 with the 100 3.5 and two film backs. One 6x7 and one 6x9. The 6x7 back had a roll of film loaded when I got it so I shot the remaining frames so I could load a fresh roll. Everything operated fine. When I reloaded the film just keeps winding and the film counter doesn't move. This happens on both backs so I think it's me that's doing something wrong?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. (PS both backs are lever wind not knob.)
Thanks
Mike

Was the film winding onto the takeup spool O.K. before you closed the back?

Hi,
After loading you should wind a few strokes until it stops to get the film in place for the first shot. Then you should be ready to shoot.

Thanks for the advice. I was loading the film under the left side roller instead of on top. Seemed like the thing to do until I realized the pressure plate pulls the film down into position.

I'll add my questions to this thread so as not to start a new one.
1.- Does a Polaroid back model 2 fit the super 23? I just bought one from the bay and the question immediately (after) arose. If not, there'll soon be a Universal Polaroid back in the classified
2.- I read on Shutterbug that "all lenses produced for the super 23 are rangefinder coupled". True? Up to now, when focusin with the 65mm lens I have been putting the ground glass back on and focused on it.
Should I start feeling idiot? (for both issues)
Thanks in advance,
Lino

Hi,
The 65 should be coupled to the rf. There is only the 250 or 500 that is not coupled. You do need however a seperate vf for the 65, or compose on the groundglass if you haven't a vf.

I don't think there is a pola back for the Super 23 at all. Because it has a fixed M type back. I guess someone skilled might be able to adapt it?
