Mamiya RB67 Shutter Problems

I was just doing a tiny bit of research online, but it appears as though my RB is having trouble consistently firing the shutter. I have been getting some rolls back with half the roll unexposed or at the extreme 2 out of 10 exposed. I have yet to actually test the camera, which I will be doing later today when I get home.

Basically the questions are:

Anyone else had this experience?

How did you test to properly determine the issue?

Did you DIY the repair or send it off?

If you did DIY, any advice on where to find diagrams or tear-down tutorials?

No one else here had an RB with shutter problems before? Maybe APUG will have more feedback...

I isolated it to my 90mm's shutter sticking (or not releasing period). I'm going through it Monday with my store tech, hopefully get it resolved that way.

The shutter is in the lens. You first of all will have to locate whether it is a lens or a body issue - that is, test with another lens on the body, and another body to the lens. Beware, there are some issues that at first seem to be lens related, which really are due to a limp cocking mechanism - these things can only be sorted out by testing on another body.

In Germany, Mamiya still does service them (mostly - some special parts for the earlier versions are gone for good), and the issues on mine were damage or wear related (and needed replacements rather than adjustment), so I haven't bothered with DIY so far.

I am noticing issues with my 90mm lens. It takes, in some cases, like 6-7 seconds for the shutter to fire. Most of the time it takes about 3 seconds. Wondering if it just needs a good cleaning? Seeing that you can get these lenses for like $100, I am just wondering if it's really worth it to send out for a professional CLA vs just finding another copy, and then attempting surgery on the slow lens by myself. I dunno.
