just bought a mamiya 6. I need a replacement grommet for a hole left of self timer.Where can I get one or has anyone a spare? Also best touch up paint for small scratches?

That is the little plastic cover for the RF adjustment. Your best bet is to put some good tape over it, like the chrome tape found at auto parts stores. Either that or contact Nippon Photo Clinic (if you're in the US) or some other authorized Mamiya service if overseas and buy one directly from them if they will sell. Every time the RF is adjusted, those little caps are replaced as they get buggered up by the tool used to remove them. You could probably make your own as well.

This leads to the question about what the previous owner did to the RF, if anything. Go outside and focus on infinity by turning the lens all the way to the stop. check to make sure they line up. You might want to go so far as to get a 6x6 groundglass and check the focus at infinity against the image plane then do the same thing at 15ft and at close focus. I would. You may have some dust roaming around in the viewfinder from that little cap being missing.

Touch up paint would be a good enamel. I'd use a glossy or semi-glossy black model enamel like from Testors. Problem is getting the color to match the older black plastic. You'll find that the black paint may look more black or even deep violet against the body of the camera. There is always nail polish which is cheaper than model enamel and you can usually find a very close color.

Totally off topic, but why Darkhorse, if I may ask. Are you a 3/5 Marine? Just curious.

Just an aside:

There was a post here a few years ago suggesting the removal of the plug, not with a pointy tool but by suction using one of those wine bottle vacuum resealers. Causing no damage.
