Mamiya Six folder 645 pressure plate

Hiya all

I'm hoping there are a few Mamiya six users out there.
I just picked one up from a forum member.
It looks pretty good to go. Test roll today and if it's sharp... off for a Shutter tune up (slow speeds hang).

My question is in regard to the 645 ability.
From what I can tell from this page mine is model "K".
It does have the barn door style 645 mask and separate counter window for 645. (so cool!)
What I don't understand is in regard to pressure plate for 645 use.
The removable plate is there and in good shape for 6x6 use.
IS there a separate pressure plate for 645 use?
The 6x6 plate blocks the window to count to 16.
Am I missing a pressure plate or missing how to use what I have?
Google is no help. Lots on the mamiya six but nothing other than others having the same question on this 645/pressure plate issue.
Maybe some our our users in Japan know the answer.
This model was never meant for the American market as far as I understand... is there an english manual?... I can find one.

Use the same pressure plate as with 6x6. Fold doors in, load film, slide in plate. Butkus.org has manuals for the basic Mamiya Six 6x6 only, but they operate basically the same. The only difference is the switch for setting 12 or 16 exposures.

The Mamiya six "automats" use the same pressure plate.
The K is not one of the automat models.
It's advance is counted through red window(s).
There are two red windows on the door of the K.

Here you can see the 6x6 pressure Plate in place.
Notice the inside of the door has two red windows.

Here yoou can see the guide rail on the top is cut away for the 645 numbering stamp on the backing paper (frame #1-16).
The 6x6 Pressure plate blocks this cut away.
You can see the circular cut out for the 66 backing paper numbers.

Here is the film gate with the 645 masking doors closed in place. That is the 66 pressure plate pictured.

Can you see why I'm confused? 😱

Test Roll is hanging. Quick look against the ceiling light shows pretty sharp looking images. 🙂

If you look at the pics again, you’ll see the pressure plate I have is cut out for the 66 backing paper markings and blocks the 645 markings.
I’m beginning to believe something is missing and that there is a seperate 645 pressure plate for this model.
Hopefully someone will know definitively.

Not all model Sixes do. I have a dual format Six V that has automatic film advance but a later model does not have it.

I think you have the wrong pressure plate.

I’ll shoot it 6x6 and hope to find a parts camera at some point.
I could have my friend mill a port in this plate I do have as well.... that would do it.
