Mamiya Universal 6x12

Howdy yall.
I haven't been active in awhile. Hope everyone is well on this nice Sunday morning.

I love my Mamiya Universal. I love my Horseman 6x12. Why not combine the two?

And with that, I give you an adapter I built that I named after my wife, "The Cristina 612B":

A couple notes:
- I have two Mamiya Universals. One is in the classic nice black and this one is in ugly green. I purchased this one for a song off of that auction site mainly because it came with the coveted 75mm F5.6 in good condition. I suspect the ugly color had something to do with the good deal attached to it...
- There are light leaks. This is not just due to the design of the adapter but also because the light seals within the main body of the camera have deteriorated. I am now using gaffers tape to cover up.

Is the adapter 3D printed or machined? You should make these and sell them.

That lens comes close to covering a 4x5 neg. Next make an adapter for a 4x5 lens board: The Cristina 4x5.

I'm afraid it won't attach to your Super 23. The bellows system there simply won't allow it.

To give you a better idea of the adapter I built, notice the angles allowed opening up to 4x5:

I've yet to try the 100mm on 4x5. My guess is that there will be some vignetting. The 75mm will 100% cover 4x5. The 50mm has some vignetting.

Thanks! It is 3D printed. I've gone through numerous iterations to get it in focus and everything just right. I am thinking about putting it on the ShapeWays store.

The 4x5 adapter is amazing! I, like many others, have been waiting years(literally) for Anthony Sansone to finish his 4x5 adapter that he kept promising to finish when he had the time. Great guy, just busy is all. Craftsmanship looks great!

Some place on the NET, I show some guy that did a few Mamiya Press, Super 23, Universal lenses (I may have some of the cameras wrong) and the 75 was the best to cover 4x5.

It's a blast having a 90 degree FoV on a 6x12 camera 🙂.

I have never used a universal, but I thought they had an adapter to take the roll and cut film backs that fit the Super Press 23. Is that not so, and then wouldn't your adapter work unless you didn't make it to work with that adapter?

I think the 75 was made for the Universal Polaroid adapter, so would have had more coverage. But JChrome's shot with the 50mm looks very good too.

The Super 23 will accept the roll film holders of the universal. I am not sure about the cut film backs.

But the difference is that there is no M adapter, which only the Universal accepts. The Super 23's bellows system takes up a lot of room and unless you want to do some serious hacking only then will it fit.

Thanks. Yea the project is a lot of fun. The 50mm is a fantastic lens. I'm in love with it.

Anything that will take the roll film backs should take the cut film holders as well. As I recall, there are three cut film holders and a simple GG back. I have the GG back, and the cut film holder/GG with the cover that swings up. There was also a cut film/BB with a mirror that brought the image right side up (and maybe unreversed, I don't recall), and one the allowed the viewfinder to rotate. The cut film holders and the roll film backs all fit on the 23 I have.
