Thank you, Bruno, yes, I've used aspherical lenses, the Voigtländer Ultron 35mm f/1.7 and several versions of the Nokton 50mm f/1.5. I like those lenses very much, but this is a thread on lenses designed by Mandler and AFAIK Mandler did not work on aspherical lenses.

I am obtaining a circa 1972 Summilux 35 (series 2 pre-ASPH Mandler from Leitz Canada, right?) so I can test it on the M9, M4-2, and Sony A7.

If it's anywhere near as nice as I expect, I'll be another chunk-o-change poorer.

After a bit of exasperation with the Brown Truck folks, the Summilux 35 v2 has arrived. I'm looking forward to seeing what it does on the M9 and comparing it to the Color Skopar 35, as well as what it does on the Sony A7 compared to the Summicron-R 35. 🙂

It's darn pretty and very small. I think I'm out that chunk-o-cash already, without even having used it yet... sigh.

Cool shots. I'm curious about your final shot. What ISO was it shot at and how was it developed?

@Nr90 - Thanks! It was shot at 3200 and was a 1 or 2 second exposure handheld. I believe it was developed on Duraflo, but it was done by a new lab to me, so I'm not 100% certain.

I like all of your photos. 🙂

I've done some shooting with the Summilux 35 v2 on the M9 now, but not enough. It's a very interesting lens: the character of the image it makes changes radically from wide open to two stops down. Wide open, it reminds me of a Zeiss Softar effect, only more subtle. A couple of stops down, it's beautifully sharp everywhere but not bitingly so ... there's a lovely quiet to its rendering even with everything pin-sharp.

On the M9, I see a small amount of color shifting across the field; I may not have chosen the best lens code for it yet. Anyone have any suggestions?
