which one is it?
in my limited experience, the nikon f2 and fe2 have the brightest ones.
they easily beat pentax sp500, praktica ltl, fujica 605, a long ago chinon of some ilk.
i hear good things about olympus, leicaflex, pentax mx/me series, and fujica 700/800 series.
what say ye?
 
Minolta SRT202 has a brighter screen it it, and it's darn good. The last of the SRT's, loaded with nice features.
 
I keep hearing just how bright the OM's are...have yet to look through one...BUT I do have a mirror prism from a OM-2sp that had been dropped in a lake...It's very cool...
 
By 'manual' I assume you referring to manual focus as oppose to manual exposure.

OMs are bright, Leicaflex SL2, R8 and R9.

When I compare my Contax Aria to my old F2, the Aria wins by a hair...but one would never notice unless a side by side is done (left eye Aria, right eye F2.) Both have 50/1.4s

I bought an OM-1 recently and can attest to the great viewfinder it is bright and clear and better than any of the 35mm SLR's I have.
 
I have an OM-4ti with beattie intenscreen and the 50/1.2. I think things might be brighter when looking at them through the viewfinder than viewing them without a camera
 
I think the OM1 had the highest viewfinder magnification of any 35mm SLR which helps and it is stunningly bright. I do find the 50 f/1.2 is a bit low in contrast so probably the for best focusing out there with a 50 f/1.4.

Not sure about the Nikons, but the Leica R6.2 is a legendary manual camera, and highly sought after with a corresponding higher price.

Have you checked this site? I remember reading somewhere in there in the last several months about the brightest VF but can't recall at the moment.

I'd say Pentax MX has pretty large and bright viewfinder. It also is very small for a SLR. It is fully mechanical with battery needed for meter only.
 
I can't compare it to the others but I have a Pentax MX since the early 80's and it is a wonderful camera. Bright, high mag viewfinder and incredibly small. Tough as nails too. Such a shame that Pentax lost their way.
 
I've never owned the OM Zuiko f1.2 lens but I once looked through one. I'm tellin' ya, it's so bright it's almost blinding. I'm very happy with the 50mm f1.4 mounted on any of the Olympus OM bodies.
 
My Leica R7 is brightest in my stable which includes an OM4Ti, ME Super and way too many others.

I can't speak to the KEH listing but both the OM-1 and the OM-1N originally used the 1.35-volt mercury cell. The main differences between the 1 and the 1N included a "flash-ready" LED indicator in the viewfinder of the latter. The 1N also automatically synched properly when any dedicated flash was used on the Shoe 4, even if the flash switch was set at FP; and the 1N had a direct connect so that a Recordata Back could be used without a cord connected to the camera body. All OM-1N bodies had the winder and motor drive socket; only some OM-1 bodies had the socket.
