Hi All,
Is there a tutorial or does anyone know how to use manual flash for macro photo with OM4ti?
My set up is twin flash on a power control 1 on OM4ti with either 80mm macro or 38mm macro lenses on auto bellows. For reflective subjects I find that the TTL flash produces too much reflection and I am now looking at manual flash as a solution to control the light exposure levels.
Has anyone done this with OM and have any useful tips or point me to a tutorial site?
Thanks in advance
Pete

Is there a ttl cable available for the OM? That would allow you to get the flash away from the camera & shoot through a tent if you wished.

Yes there are TTL cables for the OM system. Your suggestion of tent lighting is probably what he wants; TTL flash itself doesn't cause excessive reflections, light placement does. If he operates his current flashes on manual, he'll get the same results.

Thanks for that suggestion Landshark and Chris.
I attach the T28 macro twin to the front of the lens to photo very small critters, sometimes upto 3x or 4x magnification hence the interest in controlling the level of light from the flash.
I understand that this is possible using manual mode on the power control 1. Olympus have issued control panels for the 50mm with ring flash, and also stickers for the T28 twin flash with other lenses. So was wondering if there was anyone out there who had gone down this route and able to provide a tutorial or helpful hints.

I made a DIY lightbox, and use two flashes; one triggered by radio triggers and the other by slave. I have done macro with it but I can't find one right now but this is how it comes out:
I also have a Macro ringflash, this is designed for macro work:
If you want you could make your own ringflash, I did it with a couple of cake pans from Wal-Mart, I mount this one on a tripod:
