MARCH/APRIL ... FOURTEEN DAY ONE CAMERA ONE LENS CHALLENGE ... the start!

Just found this so I hope I'm not too late. I haven't shot since before the start of the contest anyway. If game then: Nikon D700 with 24mm 2.8. There's something I've been meaning to try, and this will force me to give it a nice, long try.

Dont ask me why but I had to go SLR. Final combo (first shots today) is:

Contax N1 w/50mm 1.4 Planar.

Fun fun!

As far as I understood the special gallery will be opened only at the end of the period.
Does it mean that I should keep photos untill the posting date or I'm free to show them in album here before posting to that special gallery?

If you want to WIN then I suggest that you hang on to them, as I understand it the points accrue by, among other things, the number of views in the "special" gallery. If you post earlier elsewhere you may use up some of those views.

If taking part is what it's about for you, then I don't see anything in the rules about posting elsewhere.

What d'you say Keef?

I'll ask Stephen to open another gallery after the closing date of the competition and I'll probably give that gallery three weeks before scoring the images ... a week more than last time. I remember last time therewere still comments and views going in a week after I posted the results.

As pointed out if you post an image prior to the competition gallery actually being open you will lose some impact and it will likely scorre less accordingly ... if you have an image that you're sure is a killer I'd personally be holding it back for this reason! 🙂

Talking of killers.

I just saw your latest uploads in the gallery. I couldn't leave any comments, I was so completely blown away!

Thanks Richard ... of course you realise I only do these things to impress you. 😛

Interestingly you were the original motivation behind the somewhat intense self portrait work that I now come up with occasionally ... that and the strange voices in my head that tell me to do it ... and how to do it! 😀

OK.... I have to say that using just one lens and camera for this long is a SERIOUS challenge for me. It feels so constricting, quite a change.

I must say it was quite strange shooting some "street" with an SLR again. I am so used to rangefinders for that purpose that every time my motor drive wound it sounded like a loud megaphone to me...I'm used to being a little stealthy.

Anyway, I hope others are having as much fun with this as I am and, at the same time, I am curious to see if others are feeling "constricted" or if they are really enjoying the experience.

I've enjoyed what I've done so far. I'm a tad worried that I may not make the finish line for submissions though. I cant find a local lab that will turn round 120 fillum in less than 2 weeks at less than extortionate prices.

I don't mind though, so far it's been a good learning experience: 1 Camera + 1 Lens + Sunny 16.

Cheers

well, I finished one roll with Bronica. A few portraits, that's it. Today I depart for holidays to Germany (with short stay in London in between), Bronica is too much gear to lag around, so I take olympus OM4ti/50mm f2 macro. When I get back I will have a few days till deadline, should I submit Bronica or OM images? Dilemma.

Had two rolls through the M5 with M-Hex 50/1.2, one Kodak 400 color film and a Kodak Tmax 400. Third roll loaded and ready. Might be able to put up shots from Thursday on, scanning tomorrow (tuesday 7th)

Looking forward to comparing my shots to the Canon 50/1.2 shots!

Still on the first roll - the Mrs is moving out and the house looks like a bombsite, when I take the camera anywhere my mind is not with it, too much to think about. Still, managed a couple of shots to post if they turn out OK. 🙂

Ok, I have a confession to make....

On my last day of shooting, I took a second camera with me. I had a roll of Ektar in 35mm that was burning a hole through my pocket and I could not stand to waste the chance to shoot with it. My shooting time is short and precious....so I shot black and white with my Balda Baldax and Ektar with my R3A and 40mm Nokton.

Which of course means that I didn't stick to one camera or one lens.

I am shamed and should be cast out. 🙁

Good news is, I got some good color shots. 🙂

Maybe we should have a separate catagory for the most heart rending confession ... points for originality to be added to the points for the pics?

"The devil made me do it!" 😛

Getting all my film developed tomorrow. I am not too confident at the moment with these captures, hopefully something will surprise me a bit. I was so fixated on what I wasn't using it made me laugh 🙂

We shall see!
