A couple from the SP body, neglected this season for some reason, back with the 35mm f1.8, I know, I do have other lenses, but this one draws me, I feel confident it will reflect what I see, some lenses such as the 21mm tend to impose their personality or you shoot slightly differently to accommodate them, not saying that is bad forcing the eye can be good, but that's taking away the Zen of looking and shooting, or is this getting too deep?

Interesting post I found recently with a shot by Atget could equally have been by HCB, it's all about the seeing.

Very joyful series Jon! I am happy you choose for B+W. I can't stand the color of cherryblossoms anymore, but now I can enjoy them too!

Hehe glad you were able to enjoy the photos too, Erik!

Great series of Sakura time! I miss Yokohama. Looks like it was shot in the park along the harbour too.

Hi Tom! This is actually Ueno Park in Tokyo. There's cherry blossoms everywhere there and lots of space so its an extremely popular spot for hanami parties. In days gone by, it was pretty crazy there with people sitting in every possible bit of open space and getting wasted well into the night. But the local government has become quite prudish in recent years and now rope off some areas and require the drinking parties, oops I mean flower viewing parties, to wrap up by 8pm.

Yes great series indeed thanks for posting, one and half rolls left to process here, I'll shoot off the half in the morning but they will not count, won't be as good as those though, love the shoes well framed for those in particular.

Thanks Chris!

One last lot of photos! Actually taken on April 1st in Japan, but it was still March 31st somewhere on the planet so I'm gonna post 'em anyway 😀

These first three photos were taken with a Nikkor-H 5cm F2 LTM lens on a Nicca 3-S.

And these three photos were taken with a W-Nikkor 3.5cm F1.8 LTM lens on a Leica MP.

I'll wrap up my contributions to Nikon RF Month with one more from the abandoned high school. Not seen here is the extent of the wanton vandalism on the inside! Between the taggers and the metal scrappers, this place is really trashed inside. A shame to see such nice architecture go to waste.

Nikon S2, W-Nikkor 2.8cm/f3.5, Ilford XP2.

H 232 #4 Nikon Rf Month Nikon S Nikkor 50mm f2.0 by T&T and Mr B Abrahamsson, on Flickr[/IMG]

I know it is April already, but there are some rolls still left to scan for Nikon Rf Month. I got a late start too (excuses, excuses!)
This is with my Nikon S and the 24x34 film gate. Interesting camera, heavy and with a bit of a peep hole finder - and wobetide if you touch that shutter speed dial when it exposes! Lens was a Nikkor 50mm f2.0. Orwo UN 54 in D23 two bath. Added 30 sec to both A and B - no major difference in negative density.

Finally mixed the TD-201 developer, just as well awesomely bright days recently, gone now of course. Last few with the SP and longer glass, the 10.5cm Nikkor, on HP5+ so yes well stopped down but not too far for the longer glass stability.
Not sure about the lines on the LHS could be scanner, neg. looks OK but a bit dense, the first batch or two of the TD-201 suns a bit hot, these at 3mins A&B 75F.

Seems to have been a scanner artifact, rescanned and the lines are gone. Scanned at different res as well to check.
Maybe a trace on the edge but I'm getting paranoid now and it is a tight to the frame edge crop.

Really nice again, Jon. What film did you use? How did you scan it?

Erik.

Hi Erik, sorry I didn't see your comment until just now. I cheated a bit and used color neg film rather than B&W film. I used Fuji Superia X-TRA 400 which I scanned with a Nikon Coolscan 5000 and then converted to grayscale in Photoshop. I quite like the look it gives me. Here's a few more cherry blossom shots taken with a Nikkor-H 5cm F2 LTM I just CLA'd and modified for RF coupled close focusing.

No problem, Jon, I wasn't in a hurry. Aren't you afraid that archiving your color-negs wil be problematic? Dye-images will not last untill eternity. Actually I don't know how long color negatives can be saved, so maybe I am splitting hairs. Erik.

Archivability didn't even cross my mind, Erik. I prefer real B&W film but haven't had the time/motivation for developing lately so have been opting for C41 instead. A local shop develops my films in 30 minutes for me and are quite cheap too. As long as the films last as long as I do, that will be long enough.
