I think all you guy's have more camera's than I do, which is good thing,
I'm just older now and look at thing's different.
Yes, bob...that and moving helped me to look at things differently too.

I have 5... and I think I'll be selling 3. Probably hover around 3-4 in the coming years generally. My Fuji X100F and X-Pro2 have me pretty satisfied.
John,
I "collected" my cameras over a long period of time. Seems like there is mucho sentimental value with these cameras as I spent a lot of time with them. In fact you even know many of these cameras. Seems like I have a bit of an archive because these cameras are part of my history. Of course it is different with digital.
I always had the idea of retirement in mind and having them to use for when I retire. Seems like that is happening in two years in the least if a forced move, or if I have my way in 5 years.
I'm saving money presently to build a bridge so I don't have to collect my Social Security or pensions until age 70. This adds about a third more money as far as monthly payments go for the rest of my life. If things go my way I will live comfortably without a "haircut" in lifestyle. Of course this means leaving NYC for a place about 30% less cost of living.
Some brotherly wisdom: at age 50 begin planning for retirement or you might not have one; also realize that at the age of 60 you finally realize that a decade is not that long a time. Seems like only a blink of the eye.

the other's are digital.

Thanks, but living in Chile has put an end to retirement saving. I´m a low wage worker here...

John,
There is mucho value added and richness in the experience and adventure of relocating and embracing a new culture. After a while NYC even becomes a rut.
I greatly admire the courage to embrace a drastic change in life.
In a way you can frame things in quality of life. You can brag that you did NYC and then moved on. Back at my 40th year High School reunion I saw a huge group of people who never left Long Island. It was kinda sad because they live in such a small world. Meanwhile they were amazed at my crazy life of wandering...
I have a rich brother who is a multi millionaire, but I figure I have the rich life.

Joe,
That was a brutal wait. I was told a 8-10 week turnaround when I sent in my Monochrom December 2015. Cost me nothing because they paid for shipping and insurance both ways. The real wait was for me was 12 weeks, but I understand there is a Christmas New Year's shutdown.
I'm sure you missed the camera. LOL.

Christian,
Yes. Rochard on Lex and 97th. Looking forward to a Pastromi Rueben and fries.
I might bring some of my experimental prints. I diluted down the warmth on my K-7. Been printing on Jon Cone Type 5. Interesting comparision between Piezography Pro and K-7 splitone. The PP has a more compressed range of contrast. The K-7 prints less contrast but a broader smoother range of tone.
I love both.
Also I have been using Hahneumule Fine Art Barata which is a mucho bright cellulose paper. The JC Type 5 though has great shadow detail and blacks.

Steve,
When you say Double XX are you refering to Kodak 5222?

Yes, it is the roll you gave to me. Cartridge says: "Kodak Motion Picture Film 5222 Double-X; loaded by Photo Warehouse Cat#623-36250". Shot in an R6, Summilux 50mm f/1.4, ISO setting 400.
My impression after looking at the strip hanging to dry and the first 4 frames in the Imacon II scanner is that this film will be very useful. I seems to have great density for scanning (as opposed to the Ferrania P30 which seems a little thin and seems not to like Diafine as a developer.

Steve,
This is an old school emulsion, and it is silver rich thick emulsion. Joe is also a huge fan of this film. Not bad at 400 ISO too. Makes really pretty negatives.
I buy it rolled from Photowarehouse for convenience, but I'm thinking of bulk loading because for 35mm I could use it as my only film I love it so much.
Has a retro look. Most people call it 5222.

Cal,
The first 8 frames seem to show what I would call "wide latitude" in the scan. That might be the wrong term, but to me it means that the raw histogram out of the sensor seems to cover almost the entire range of the sensor's capability. So you don't have to use software to open up the histogram later.
After I get this scanned, I need to move the files over to some other processing software, and see how it prints out in Quadtone Rip.

Steve,
I think what you are experiencing is twofold: one is the Diafine effect of capturing wide /broad lattitude; and secondly 5222 because it is a motion picture film has a mucho silver rich thick emulsion that captures and has a broad range of lattitude.
I'll bring some negatives and a light table. I like this film better than Tri-X.
As far as getting out of your rut and being inspired, I would suggest bulking up a few hundred rolls of 5222 and just concentrating on shooting this film over the next few months. Bound to inspire. What wonderful contrast. Also love the retro look. Ideal film for me.

I just read that Double-X 5222 is the cine version of the discontinued Plus-X from Kodak Eastman. (https://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/250294-kodak-5222-double-x-in-my-leica-m7/) No discussion there about using Diafine as a developer though.
Have you researched the best place / price to "bulk up a few hundred rolls"?

I will bring some 5222 negs as well & a Pentax K1000 with a Nikkor 85mm f/1.8 AI, converted with a Leitax mount.
I am going back to the late 60's - early 70's - in equipment and now with something similar to my favorite then "Plux-X" this will be a blast!
