Mason Jar: Comment & Critique

I haven't done much lately, so I tried a still life in the back yard. Two white foam boards on each side, a translucent white cloth on top, and a silver reflector to the side of the camera. The flowers just weren't as interesting to me as the jar itself.

I played with it too much. Your interpretation is almost what I had in mind, just a little lighter. So, what did you do?

I adjusted the levels in Photoshop and then darkened the highlights in some of the colors using PictoColor iCorrect Edit Lab. I did not do any sharpening as it was plenty sharp.
I agree it could have been a little lighter and by moving the midpoint a little to the left, it should be fine.

It looks over exposed to me. I would say keep at it, I'm sure you will get something interesting from it...

Thanks everyone! I thought I had something nice, but I wasn't quite sure about it. The higher contrast feels right to me, as well.

You're starting to get the hang of it. My digital p&s is always a little flat, so I have been getting plenty of practice in PSE8. And sometimes the film scans are way off, so I get even more practice. Two good things have come out of Photoshop. One is, it's much easier on the enviorment, since you're not wasting chemicals on bad processes. And secondly, it's a great learning tool because you can experiment as much as you want. If it comes out crappy, just hit 'Undo', and try again.
