I have become the proud owner of too many film cameras and lenses and have decided that it is time for a mass clear out. In total I have about 25-30 cameras I would like to move on and about the same number of lenses to sell . All high end cameras in good working order ranging from Leicas and Hasselblads to Nikons and Canons and a lot of stops in between. Just what I thought I was doing buying the three Leica M3s and multiple copies of the same Hasselblad and Leica lenses I will never know.
Although my priority is to de-clutter rather than to make a great profit , I would prefer to clear at least a little below market price.
Anyway..In the past I have been driven almost to distraction by selling camera gear on the well known auction site. (Why is it that some people just won't read a listing or, if they do, interpret "user condition" as "new in box""? ). Also I would find the description writing and preparation and uploading of photos for this number of items a little trying.
I am looking for suggestions as to alternatives to the auction site for such a sale. One obvious option is, of course, the classifieds here but as that solution would still involve writing and uploading a lot of photos etc, I thought I would see if there are any other methods known to members before I try there.
I have also thought about taking the whole batch to a local used/vintage camera store to try to negotiate a sale en mass, but I am not sure exactly how to go about that and am by nature adverse to haggling.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Also, I could sell a number of cameras with accompanying lenses and accessories, such as a Leica M3 with Summicron 50/2 DR and period light meter, filters etc . Does anyone have any comments on the relative benefits or otherwise of selling a complete kit as opposed to selling the constituent components separately?
Thanks in advance for your advice.
