Hi, i just took delivery of an M7, 80mm and 150mm from a fellow RFF member as part of a trade deal. Running my first roll through it, i noticed that the 80mm had a massive shutter lag of up to 5secs and thats without self timer on. The 150mm was instantaneous. Any words of advice for a M7 newbie?

yeah, a head on shot with the camera showed that the shutter did not open. the click i heard (and assumed to be a shutter release) was just that, a click!

If the M7 is like the M6, the 'click' you hear is actually the sound of the shutter recocking.

correction, its the sound of the shutter trying to recock. I spoke to fixationuk, and thats the diagnosis at hand, although they don't do mamiyas. Its a standard leaf shutter jam apparently. Anyone knows who does mamiya beyond the agent?

I sent my M6 to Johnson's Photopia, which is the agent in the UK. The quote they gave me for a jammed bellows was 100-200GBP.

haha....i don't want to know how much this will set me back by. Someone in london quoted me a min of 150 for repairs ex-cost of parts.

These days, the labour cost can be higher than the parts cost - my Mamiya 6 needed a light leak on the bellows patched - the materials cost about 7 swiss francs, the labour 180 swiss francs including diagnosis and finding the actual leak.

Lucky for me it was under KEH's 60 day warranty so they paid for it.

the thing is that i love the camera. Its SOSOSOSO nice......
anyway, owner has offered to take work out some kind of repair scheme and also allowed me some time to think about it. Sometimes, good ppl are just hard to find. When this saga is concluded, u can expect a good recommendation from me!
