Light Impressions no longer exists, and I've finally exhausted my supply of 16x20 4-ply, cotton rag mat boards.
Can anyone recommend a supplier? (I can't use boards that are precut to a "standard" photo size.)

Stay away from the Cescent etc boards at frame shops and art suppliers. Above are first class quality boards. They will send you a sample pack of the various shades of white, at least they did when they were known as Archival Matt Supplies.
4 ply is normal thickness. 2 is like heavy cardboard. 6 is like building material.
If memory serves, use buffered for monochrome and non buffered for color.

Both Crescent and Nelson-Bainbridge have product lines that vary from exotic archival to lower price point. I do not hesitate to use either while recognizing you get what you pay for. I find any dealer only recommending one of the competitive brands does so only because they do not stock the other.

I recommend Frame Destination and use uncut sheets of 4-ply Bainbridge AlphaRag.

Dick Blick might be worth looking at.

Second Frame Destination. Their quantity prices are less than buying whole sheets at Blick.

Thanks guys. It looks like Frame Destination is a good choice. I've ordered 2 of their 2x5 in. color samplers (to get a 4x5 sample.)
Blick is very convenient, with a large store here in Boston. But the last time I visited, I had trouble finding someone who could provide detailed information on their 32x40 sheets (which would have to be cut to 4 - 16x20 boards. I'll give it another try though.
