Can't find where I stashed my Zorki-6 after swapping it out of the bag to test the Zorki-3 (and I think it has the pinhole cap on it that would have come in handy today), so I'll just have to put up with the wonky rangefinder on the Z-3 one more time. I might grab the Zenit TTL too.

I left the Zenit behind because there was this pesky rain storm (well, here it was rain, they were getting snow off the other side of it) blowing through today. Made it easier to just go with the Z-3, J-8, Acros 100 between showers.

I'll have to finish off the roll later this week.

I finally got my scans back yesterday!

International Commie Camera Day came with me still looking for my Zorki-6, so I had to go with Plan B, and use the Zorki-3 that has the wonky rangefinder (vertical adjustment cannot be fixed). I stayed with the Jupiter-8 2/50 lens, and loaded some Fujifilm Neopan Acros 100, as it gives good results in either sunny or cloudy conditions.

There were rain bands moving through the area on the 1st, so it was hit-or-miss when I got to a location on whether I’d be able to get a shot or two. When the rain did let up, it was only for a short while, then it was back in the truck looking for another dry spot. I kept a close eye on my radar app.

Here are some examples from the day.

Two things I was concentrating on here: nailing the focus on the little tree, and not falling in the creek.

(OK I finally finished my roll; this wasn't taken on May 1 but it WAS taken in May!)

And put black tape on the body to seal against light leaks.

So I almost completely solved my light leaks issues on the Zorki by sealing all the edges of the removable camera back with black gaffer tape. One drawback though - it peeled a few little spots of the camera's rubberized coating! Not down to the bare metal, but enough particles I can see it on the tape.

The camera itself is actually pretty enjoyable to use but its a little on the crude side!

That's what I like about the Z-3. It's got a more solid build than the ones before or after it. My Z-6 that I really like feels and sounds like a tin can compared to the Z-3. But it still takes good photos.
