Too much cool stuff is happening.

There is so much going on, and so many possibilities, but I have to keep a lid on them.

Anyways my life is more crazier than ever, and the potential to change my life is actually happening whether I like it or not.

At this point it is getting hard to stay under the radar.

One thing that is bothersome is that my photography is being published all over the world in high profile magazines, newspapers, and even broadcast TV, but I would say I only get credit for my photography maybe only 15%-20% of the time.

The BBC jumble my name with another photographer. Also Maggie reports they misspelled another photographer's name.

Mucho is last minute. With the BBC it was during a live broadcast, but I am very happy than a photographer got his credit due and the mistake was corrected.

Another New Yorker from the NYC Meet-Up is reported to have this contagious disease.

Also I contacted John at Focal Point about getting the lens separation repaired on the Zeiss 100/2.8 Planar. So here is the gamble: there is a risk of lens destruction because heat is used to separate the glued lenses. Also the risk is compounded by the use of different types of glass that have different thermal coefficients of expansion. Failure means a lens shatters and the cost and risk would be mine.

I consider myself a very lucky guy, and I would not bet against myself, but the gambler/risk taker in me makes me want to try, especially since the reward would be high. I figure a perfect Zeiss 100/2.8 is worth around $1.8-$2K with shutter and lens board. I figure if I loose I still got a clean 2x3 Tech IV with mucho extras for my $750.00 worth.

The price of my wager is $250.00, the cost of fixing the lens separation. It is an all or nothing bet.

That Zeiss 100mm 2.8 really seems interesting if just only for the aperture it advertises.
As with the f2's in 645, 6x6 & 6x7, it would be quite interesting if other more mainstream cameras had one of these. For the format I'd like to imagine it with the Texas Leicas. For one, a quick google shows the zeiss has a 58mm filter, not that big.

If only for bokehcalipse, including focusing and Dof impracticalities. GG focusing of the Linhofs and this lens might be mighty for portraits... thinking about things that in reality I never shoot.
The other day a friend dragged me into an argument. He craves a 14mm (which in APS is UW I guess) and for damn everything he's telling me it'd be the lens. Not good trying to argue him to use wis very nice 24-70 and 70-200 instead! Had me thinking about the Biogon on 6x9.

You do find some damn fine bargains out there. Hope the recementing goes well, if not... you might get a great lomoish lens. Well sorted CRA.

BTW, as the topic of film prices and hoarding went on about the thread, have you gotten notice about the phasing out of Acros sheets (4x5, 8x10)? Was on APUG from phoblographer last week. 35mm and 120 unaffected supposedly. Might be the time to grab a few boxes of 4x5 for long exposures.

Superia 200 is also supposed to be axed, a mighty fine consumer material. One can only guess what weird thing Fuji are thinking about.

I still have mucho Acros in 120 hoarded. Thanks for the heads up on the phase out.

In 2x3 sheet film it seems that FP4 is going to be my new film for Diafine. I really love the test roll I developed. I use 180 ISO with FP4. I love the results. I believe FP4 will be around for the long term. I feel and can see that Fuji is downsizing their film manufacturing. I stockpiled 25 boxes of Fuji FP-100 Polaroid.

My most recent buy was a 2x3 Grafmatic for $29.95 that included shipping. The seller advertised the Grafmatic as being without septums and was asking $39.95, but he also had a best offer. Anyways I was shocked to discover that the septums were not missing so basically I got a complete working 2x3 Grafmatic for $29.95 and free shipping.

Anyways the Linhof Cult seems to be growing, meanwhile there seems to be an absence of love for big heavy German cameras.

Looks like Monday and Tuesday rain is expected, so I figure the beginning of the day will be sunny and the high chance of rain comes later in the day. Moody weather.

Looks like I will have yet another new camera that I'm day-trading for later today. I'll likely carry a pair of M-bodies.

The new M4 kinda replaces the M4 I sold to Andre, but also takes the place of my beloved black paint MP that I sold to fund my SL. Does your old E-mail still work? If so I can forward you some pictures.

I traded Ben from Philly a spare 35/1.8 Nikkor in LTM.

I was at B&H buying paper for printing, but I stopped by to say hello to my freinds in the used department, and I had some prints to show them using the new Piezography Pro. Someone asked about that night shot of a homeless person reading a newspaper on a Church's steps and wanted to know what lens I used. When I told them it was a 35/1.8 Nikkor in LTM they remarked that they had one.

It was mispriced and was being sold for "no money" so I was forced to buy it, so I pulled out the plastic card with the magic numbers.

Earlier this week I was checking the classifieds and stumbled into Ben's ad. Anyways I kinda bought this lens knowing I would make some friend very happy.

So my 28 Cron and 35/1.8 Nikkor are my two most favored lenses for M-bodies, but the M4 is really going to be my dedicated body for my 50 Rigid.

I am de-monstering my film M's and removed the TA Rapidwinders. Also know that after you left Dodge I have been a bit restless and crazy. Your presence in NYC somehow grounded me and made me a bit more stable. LOL.

For the advancement of "Linhof Disease" check out the 70mm film thread. Linhof makes a 70mm "Cine" roll film back, and used these 70 exposure roll film backs sell for about $100.00 (no money).

My "Baby Linhof's" weigh almost 8 pounds ready to shoot with either Graphmatics (six shot magazine for sheet film) or 120 Rolliex film back. The Cine Rolliex is a lot heavier than the 120 back.

It truely is a legendary lens and is not hype. Only 1700 ever made in LTM. Radioactive Thoriated glass, with generally about a half stop yellow filter built in. The small size is a big bonus and on your M5 it looks pure evil.

I'm it love with the M4. It seems one film RF M-body is not enough for me, and I did miss the coolness and vanity of a painted Leica body. The M4 has the best 50mm frames unless you have a M3 or 0.85 VF'er.

I will be exploiting what I call my "VIP" bag that annoys John and Pro-Mone. One summer when we were shooting together somehow we end up in Adorama. John and Pro-Mone took insult of being treated like lepers and were even John was scolded not to touch a camera laying on the used counter by my friend Angel. Seemed almost like they were being shoed away like homeless people; meanwhile I get the VIP cell-leb-Bert-T treatment and get a private showing of rare gear, and specialty items, as they were ignored on the sidelines.

I saw this small brown Leica bag and asked to see it. Basically it was a great design to carry two rigged Leica M-bodies and about 20 rolls of film for a perfect day of shooting in NYC. When I asked about the price I was told it just came in and they hadn't priced it yet, but because I wanted it they would create a "special" price of $69.00 for a leather bag.

When I went on EBAY to find out the going rate, I discovered that the two available had BIN of several hundred dollars. LOL.

I can't make this stuff up, and I'm not making this up. LOL. I was just minding my own business... LOL.

I'm sure John remembers this bag. LOL.

At least there is some equilibria, gain monsters in the SL and Linhof but then lighten the M side. Ilford did make 70mm if MOQ was reached through the ULF/rare formats programme. Don't know the financial side of it, but it sure could make shooting lots of 6x7 easy.

Happened to get to buy in B&H and Adorama during my stay and somehow I felt more closely treated at Adorama. At B&H I picked up film, and seems that when you have stuff in hand there is no free roaming allowed other than going to the cashiers.
Funny enough, there was some data and adresses asked at B&H and I keep receiving the catalog. The last one came yesterday or so.

I keep forgetting about giving it to my actor/cinematographer/guy with camera gearhead friend.

Can you share some of that random deal luck? Finding Contax T's in the streets? Damn!
