Saturay night I had the pleasure of going to a concert by the Madison Bach Musicians, a local group that does historically correct performances on period instruments. Marvellous concert of the 4th, 5th & 6th Brandenburg Concertos plus a Telleman Recorder Sonata. I got there early and got permission to photograph the concert. I had my Leica IIIf, Summitar & a handful of Kodak BW400CN along. One meter reading at the start of the night & then on with the show - f2@1/75th.

If you are so inclined, there are some shots up at my Picassa web page MBM Concert 4/26/2010 http://picasaweb.google.com/wlewisiii/MBMConcert4262010?feat=directlink

Thanks for taking a look,

William

Those look great! I've never been able to get good results with C-41 b&w films, but obviously some people have no problem at all with it all! :)

Thanks, Ray. I've gotten used to the BW400CN & have begun getting familiar with its quirks I guess. I find it a handy film as I often can't deal with souping & scanning in the home due to various circumstances. I end up mostly shooting this or Ektar 100 for color.

I remember in an early '50s Morgan & Lester book about Leica photography there was a chapter about a cellist in a symphony orchestra who was also an avid photographer. He took pictures of his fellow musicians with a IIIf -- his conductor would only allow the use of a Leica because it was so quiet. All I could think was that the music the orchestra was playing must have had long stretches of empty measures for the cello section.
