Several months ago I purchased a nice Kodak Medalist. I'm fond of those crazy RF MF US made cameras. After I overhauled the camera, I tried some landscapes with Ilford SFX and a series VI 720nm IR filter. I definitely like this lens, the 5 elements Ektar (Heliar formula) is a great performer. The kind of camera that just gives you the idea of selling away all your 35mm equipement.

Here are some results :

Excellent stuff. I've only shot two rolls of TMAX 100 through mine that I respooled on 620 reels. Is yours converted to 120 film? I don't use mine enough (yet) to warrant a conversion.

Looking at negatives I've shot with both of mine they don't look too impressive, but something magical happens to them under the scanner or when you print them.
I agree that the Heliar Ektars are wonderful lenses!

Both my Medalists have war-time dated lenses, 1941 and 1944 and black anodized lensbarrels.
One's had a lobotomy at some point (probably because of a jam). Someone disconnected the framecounter, auto-c*cking feature and double-exposure protection from the winding wheel. :( Luckily it is still usable.

I'll see if I can dig out my photos tonight.

Thanks for sharing :)

PS: tu es le Maël du site de S. Halgand?

Hi.

I respool every film on 620. The Ektar deserves it ! It takes me half an hour to respool 5 to 6 films, fuji Acros 100 or HP5+ Ilford. My camera is from 1944 with a light coating.

Waiting for your pics ! :)

Yes I am... Do we know each other ?

No, but I know your very instructive notes on Halgand's site. You're a man of knowledge, and that's great you're on RFF now.
I've just checked your website (link in your signature); when I have the money for, I'll send you my Zorki4K for a CLA :)

Bonne continuation!
