Houston Zoo meerkats. I'm just not well-heeled enough to afford shooting them in the wild. 🙄 These little guys are doing what comes naturally in spite of the fact that they don't have to worry about predators here.

Testing a Nikkor 400mm f3.5 lens and I think it's a keeper. Shot wide open on a Nikon F100, Kodak 400 film probably.

Until recently, UK television ran a series called ''Meerkat Manor'' - possibly shown stateside, too - which documented the lives of several meerkat family groups in the Kalahari desert.

Fascinating stuff !

BTW, impressive sharpness from the Nikon 400 f3.5.
I nearly bought one recently, but the size and weight decided me against it, and I acquired a 300 f4.5 ED-IF instead, which is much smaller and lighter and more easily used when trekking in the field. The longer reach of a 400 would be very useful sometimes, though...

@ Sej ...

Yes indeed !
Those adverts have become classic and rightly so, because they display a catchy cleverness that's rare in modern advertising.
Everyone responds positively to cute and cuddly meerkats, despite the fact that in reality they are ruthless killers of their own kind - a trait they have in common with us humans... (!)
