While I recognize this as a rather uninspired composition and a techincal nightmare, I thought it might be enjoyed by some of the fine readers of RFF who may have spent younger days in the Green Machine. Here it is: Old Glory and the US Marine Corps Monument on Mt Suribachi. The photo was taken a week ago on 26 May right before we left Iwo Jima. Equipment was a Bessa L w/ CV 15mm. I don't recall which Kodak product I had in the camera.

Be on the look out for a Clint Eastwood movie being released in October. It is said to be inspired by James Bradley's Book, Flags of our Fathers. Mr Eastwood was a big hit on Iwo when he came out with Ken Watanabe to get some location shots.

That's a great shot. The fact that it is such a humble looking monument is inspirational in itself. Good work. Thanks for posting it.

That's actually far more interesting than the monument in DC...

If the Eastwood movie can capture the feel of Mr. Brady's book, then we'll all be better off for it.
